I followed the guides to a T but still the shells ended up sticking to the outside. I keep having to chip piece by piece away and occasionally losing pieces of the egg white in the process. How do I get the shell to come off in a few large chunks?

Run it under cold water for a bit. I do that any way, cause they're too hot for me to hold, and I don't wanna wait for em to cool down.

After they're done boiling, I immediately put cold water on them. After a few minutes they'll be just warm, not piping hot. Then you can peel them pretty easy.

If you're boiling a lot of them to have as snacks throughout the week or something just peel them under running water

You only have to put a crack and let cold water hit for like 10 seconds after it's boiled and it comes right off. Nothing extra needed like being mentioned.

1. Don't put them in the pot until the water is already boiling.
2. Cool them immediately with cool/ice water when they're done cooking.

You just have to have the water already boiling when you drop them in

This must be part of where I fucked up, the guide I followed said you can put them in the water before it starts boiling.

I do put them immediately in ice water but I don't peel them until I'm ready to eat them. Maybe I need to peel them and then store them?

Everyone has a different method. For me I put them in water lid on then turn the stove on. The moment it reaches boiling. I turn the heat off immediately and leave the eggs in (large eggs) the hot water for 10 minutes, lid on. After 10 mins I take em out and put em in cold water.

I crack them, and peel them while submerged in the cold water. The water help separate the membrane from the egg and thus makes the shell come off easy. Fool proof creamy hard boiled eggs every time.

Steam them instead of boiling them if possible, and be sure to shock them in ice water when they come out. They peel super easy after this!

It is possible the ice water I had ready wasn't cold enough; I used a massive bowl and only about eight ice cubes because I used the rest for drinks earlier so they weren't ready. I also turned off the heat and removed them, maybe I should keep the heat on and remove them a teeny bit sooner (i.e. set timer for 7:45 instead of 8, but start removing before turning off heat). That would increase their temperature a bit when placed into the ice water.

Run eggs in cold water for 10 seconds, one good tap on the very bottom of the egg () hold egg upside down (bottom part up) and use fingers to peel, work in a spiral motion from top to bottom.
