Anyone else get real dissociative?

I was while driving home after an hour of hectic overtime.

It's like watching a puppet do things that you would do. You don't feel your body at all, you don't recognize your reflection (that's not a literacy cliche, it's just another person), you forget things hours at a time, you forget who you're talking to. Pieces of your memory are just removed. Going into it ranges from annoying to pleasant. Coming out is always uncomfortable, like a mild constant panic attack.

For me it only happens after a crazy workday. There's always a very mild feeling if I'm not working with someone who's engaging, but full on episodes take a workday that makes people's souls break.

Depends how you define dissociative...

I often feel stuck on auto-pilot and even when I get brief moments of self-awareness I find it hard to break free of it...

But I don't feel like your description.

That's more or less exactly how I feel.

I guess you're the only one.

No wonder no one else believes me.

I tell people this, and they think I'm ignoring them anyway. They get mad at me, "yeah, I feel like that too sometimes, I have bad moods too, but I don't treat you like that"

No motherfucker, I am not in there.

No, but I sometimes zone out while driving, etc. Certain low-thought tasks like driving the same commute can basically be done on auto-pilot. During those moments, I'm not all that aware of the driving itself.

literally the opposite at all times. I never feel like I get to that autopilot place. I constantly feel like oh shit it's time to move my left pinky finger a cm higher on the steering wheel.

Fuck... I need to blink

it's horrible.

not sure if it's exactly the same, but sort of. I can "black out" where it's basically like day dreaming. generally happens while driving or in the shower. can make me late for work if I do it too much before leaving.

I definitely don't get the actual "dissociation" feeling though, of not being in my body or whatever. It's just basically a part of my brain going to sleep leaving the rest of my brain running my body without me in conscious control.
