or are just confused because growing up is hard

You know when someone's arguing something [controversial] but only using vague statements to justify their claims?

The delivery wasn't funny in any way...feels forced.

They're not telling us about the medical procedures involved or anything. It's just a person that happens to be trans.
And then the parent has to explain what it means if the kid asks, or what?

i knew i was trans at 4. full fucking stop. i wasn't influenced by TV (my first media exposure to trans people was several years later). i wasn't influenced by family (they believe the same nonsense you do). and i wasn't influenced by society (it was 1987.)

my confusion at 4? "why won't the other girls play with me?" "why are my parents trying so hard to change who i am?"

and later, as a teen, when I realized how shitty they really were? "why don't they love me?" and "why am I still alive?"

you know nothing of what we experience, and worse, you think your ignorance is actually knowledge.

Boom! That's right, this is all happening! You cannot change the channel now!
So... what did we learn?

You mean like with reproduction, death, and politics? In my experience, they either make something up entirely, or come up with an honest, though extremely simplified, explanation.

Or that ailments should be completely ignored until adulthood...

I've just been roped into this argument enough, there's only so much I can regurgitate when no one actually cares anyway, so fuck it. You can all enjoy your victory, and I'll disagree with it.

Bizarrely analogous with Rocko himself conceding at the end that some change is okay when at first he was pissed about the baby fathead, but everyone else was happy and pretty much backed him into a corner.

I also want to know what age range is classified as "kids". My 4 year old niece currently watches Peppa Pig and some Ninja kid show. If I threw on Hey Arnold, Rocko, Angry Beavers, or Catdog she wouldnt even get what is being said.

I thought it was. The message of the special was don't get attached to the past, and embrace the future. It was like it was meant to speak directly to people who have nostalgia for the show.

I would think it's more likely that they realized that a movie meant to pander to the nostalgia of adults from a generation that is famous for cutting cable is probably not going to translate to increase revenue for the network, so why bother if it was going to create any controversy at all?

I completely forgot there was a son in the cartoon, so I thought it was the father. That would have been a hard sell. From what little I remember, it doesn't really seem out of place with the characterization I remember in the show.

I stumbled upon it recently on either Netflix or Hulu and skimmed through it out of curiosity. Seems like your fairly standard made-for-tv kids movie, but there's like a five-minute segment dedicated entirely to them not knowing how to assemble the silver monkey, so I can at least appreciate that.

No real reason. The kids on the game show likely screwed up due to a combination of stress, adrenaline, and bad lighting. The movie just makes the kids incompetent for the joke and so the "dumb" kid could figure it out for plot.

No, his neighbors are Ed and Bev, Ralph (now Rachel) was their cartoonist son (now daughter), but was always an estranged emotional wreck, so this is the result of his years-long soul-searching to find him/herself.

Did he/she show up a lot in the original show too or were they only alluded to
