Commercial? Not for sure. 2.7 mm is the smallest caliber a gun has used. Doubt the ammo is available commercially though.

Better of using birdshot though. I have some birdshot rounds for my .357 that would work perfectly. The pellets won't even pierce a 2 liter bottle at 10 to 15 yards. So it probably wouldn't pop the hummingbird like any shotgun shells would.

Or you know .177 cal pellet gun pellets. Though they still might ruin a trophy hummingbird more than the birdshot rounds I mentioned.

I believe they make shot rounds in .22 as well.

.17hmr maybe

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Definitely that. Would still make a hummingbird explode though.

17HMR? The case itself is longer in length than a 22LR though.

I don't think I've seen a caliber lower being sold in typical stores, but then again I don't look for that kind of thing.

Also yeah not good for hunting a hummingbird, but I don't know why you'd want to.

I have a box of .22 rat shot. It is #12 shot, each pellet is about 0.05 inches or 1.27 mm.

Yeah its what im most accurate with. Bet my aim would be god like with a .22 rifle as what i shot with was a single action revolver and I didnt miss a shot (shooting beer bottles)

The smallest currently available ammo is the 2.34mm rimfire produced for the Swiss Mini Gun, a revolver about 5.5cm in length. The bullet is less than 2 grains and has a muzzle velocity of 400 ft/sec and an energy of 0.7154 ft-lbf, which is substantially less than a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun.

It's more of a "look at dem cute tiny bullets!"

So I figured it'd only be applicable to the smallest possible game, which would either be really tiny birds, or mice or something.
