One of his rules is he can't kill people, but does that mean sorcerer Jafar also can't kill people because he was created by Genie? We never do see him kill people as a sorcerer in either movie.

A genie can't grant a master's wish to kill someone, but the master is still able to kill someone themselves. There's plenty of stuff Jafar did with his sorcerer powers that could have killed Aladdin.

Then I guess Jafar's just a moron. He could have used his sorcerer magic to just levitate swords through everyone's hearts who he wanted dead.

Jafar also exploits a loophole in the sequel by not killing people, just putting them in extremely horrible circumstances: "You'd be surprised what you can live through."

Or just doing something like opening up a big crack in the ground, revealing molten lava that people can fall into.

He is absolutely a moron. In fact, I'd say he's one of the dumber big Disney villains, he usually just hides it by being smooth.

He was able to outsmart the clever Aladdin and trick him into getting the lamp for him. Abu ruined it though.

well yeah. at one point, he dropped swords in front of Aladdin to stop him from grabbing the lamp. instead of, you know, dropping swords on Aladdin.

One of the many reasons I thought he might not actually be able to kill because his powers came from a genie.

And then he wasn't smart enough to just pull the dude up and have him killed later, he decides to doublecross him then and there which leads to Aladdin getting the lamp.

He had mind control powers the whole time why did he even need the lamp?

Like is there a reason he could have used his scepter to force the Sultan to arrange his marriage, but he couldn't use it to make Jasmine obey him?

Probably couldve just gotten the Sultan to abdicate the throne to him, but the plot had to happen.

His staff is also sort of shit. The Sultan is an idiot and even he's able to break out of it a few times.
