I know for sure the PlayStation version of IV has it, so probably the Super Famicom did too but I dont know if that was one of the things removed for the US SNES version

With FFIV the second player can control the game at any time. You basically have to agree with the other player who does what.

I remember playing through FFIX with my friends. We'd meet up each day and progress through the game together. Kind of like a precursor to modern co-op online RPGs. Good times.

FFMQ also had multiplayer support IIRC, but ya we used to play FF6 multiplayer all the time when I was a kid. I always played Sabin because my friend couldn't properly do Blitz
