I cant see how the screaming, whining and temper tantrums are fun. Most little kids are hard headed little butts who cant be reasoned with. And you csnt take them anywhere or go on vacation without it being a production.

You have to spend your days cleaning up shit, piss, vomit, etc. ( i do this at work all day. I come home to get away from that)

So whats so great ahout them again?

Better off with pets. All parents can't wait until their little bastard kids are 18 so they can throw em out on their ass.

Never seen one pet owner kick their pets out the day they turn 18.

It seems to legit give some people joy. Like they just look at them and well up with love. It's what people describe when they're like "you'll see when you have your own".

With that said, everyone doesn't get that feeling. I dont think I would personally and dont want to roll the dice to find out. Seems like a terrible gamble to force on a kid.

I am 35. I have no children and weak to no desire to have them. I broke up with somebody I really cared about, primarily, do to differences on kids.

I see the biologic appeal to kids. I also see the happiness they bring many people. I personally worry about the maturity needed to raise one, the commitment needed, and how a separation of the parents could hurt.

I do not know if I am really suited for them. Lots of people bring them into the world with too little forethought of rammifications of doing so. Get more than they bargained for. I do not want to be that sort of person.

For the record, i was a happy kid and my parents are still together.

I agree. Kids take a lot of work and most people simply act like they are an after thought of having sex or a government paycheck. I really really wish we could make people get licensed to reproduce

I too was a very fortunate and happy kid who's parents still are together and cared very much for me.

Ehh, gonna disagree. I see no point in wasting decades of time and resources on someone elses child, when I could be investing all that in my own instead. Just to clarify, if you dont desire to have your own (biological) children or are unable to have them, then it could be a great idea to adopt.

Ive seen this many times, many times old relatives left to die in nursing homes. So much for all this taking care of you when you get older stuff. Sometimes it doesnt work that way

Life itself isnt fulfilling. People delude themselves into thinking it is with kids. Really all that is is satisfying biological imperatives to continue your DNA line. I've accepted the meaninglessness and futility of life and dont operate under any delusions.

Experts say having kids is the worst possible retirement plan you can have. So if you're having kids because you want someone to take care of you when you're older, you're not gonna have a good time. Reality just doesn't work out that way.

I'd say if you're questioning it, you probably have some desire to have them. The act of having them in itself is fulfilling to some people. It's no different than the issues you have in a relationship, good comes with bad. I don't want any ever myself, but it's an individual thing that you need to figure out.

Yeah, I would never count on kids as a retirement plan. It's not fair to them, and I'd feel uncomfortable with not having the money to take care of myself. I know some cultures are bigger into taking care of the elderly, but American culture by and large is not.

You definitely have to be selfless to want to have kids. But you also have to understand that there will be good days and bad days. And once upon a time, you too were a child that someone had to clean up after. It depends on what you choose to focus on: the effort and difficulties or the positives like creating memories, having someone look up to you like you're the best, and being proud of the human you created as they grow. If you understand this, then yeah, kids are worth it.

This is a very narrow view of people who don't want kids. I could argue some of us could be thinking about the whole world's population and we think it'd be selfish to have kids just because we can. Not me, but some of us. Also, good! We have enough people who only think about themselves having kids. They make awful parents.
