I suppose I just sort of see the "purpose" of the loser's bracket in BOST specifically as allowing more of a soundtrack to be heard than would be if it were single-elimination. Always when possible using something new until you've run out of choices is what I'd rather see for that reason.

I'll respond to stuff a bit later, but I figured I should say for now that I'm feeling extremely conflicted on the overwhelming amount of feedback that's... honestly pretty much going completely against things that I had been rather vocal about in pre-tournament and nominations regarding how things were going to be run, so I gotta work out my own thoughts some more. Not to discredit anyone or anything that's been said but I definitely wasn't expecting a near unanimous "don't do any of those things" haha

To be fair, the 1-3, 4-6 format is completely new to the contest, so it does alter perceptions of how things "should" be done a little. You have a different paradigm on song selection than I did. So do it whatever way makes sense...but IMO if a game loses with the same song twice, that's not punishing the game, that's punishing the nominator.

Also, a few things regarding future rounds!

1) As brought up before, I was unsure what to do with Losers Round 3. I do appreciate everyone voicing their thoughts, and while I would like to continue using new songs wherever possible, in the long run it does not make sense to do so and would complicate matchup making further down the line. I had think for a long time if it was worth it to me to run it like this seeing as how many people wanted it, and I'm very sorry if anyone is actively annoyed that I ended up not taking that route. However, from the options that I had given, it seemed most people would rather the songs that won in either Winners or Losers Round 1 go up for Losers Round 3, so I will be going that route. In my perfect vision, a game that wins the contest will have won at least one match with every song in its setlist, and while this allows a way out of that, I think avoiding the possibility of that not being the case is not worth knowingly makinging people disappointed.

In short, Losers Round 3 will feature the song that won in either Winners Round 1 or Losers Round 1 for each respective game.

2) For Snubs Bracket, if I run the finals as I do the Grand Finals for Main Bracket, each game will only have 5 matches to use songs in! This leaves us with a few choices that can be done there:
a) Starting with Round 3, randomize from 1~3 for each of Round 3, 4, and 5. One song from 4~6 will go unused. Finals run as a Main Bracket Grand Finals.
b) For Round 3, use the last of 4~6 that is unused, and randomize Round 4 and 5 from 1~3. One song from 1~3 will go unused. Finals run as a Main Bracket Grand Finals.
c) Continue with Round 3 using the last of 4~6, and randomize Round 4 and 5 from songs 2 or 3. Finals will use Song 1. (Or, heaven forbid, completely randomize Round 4, 5, Final from 1~3...)

Personally, I think 1 > 3a > 2 > 3b. I don't think there's any way that this could be done outside of these, but if you have some crazy idea that may work, let me know!

On snubs, b/c (not alt c) or a b variation with fixed 3, 2, finals are what I'd support. More than partially because I already locked in r3 stuff in favs assuming it'd be along the lines of them anyway, but also because there are just a number of songs I want to hear in those lower sets

With Winners 2, Losers 1, and Snubs 1 all done, it seems like a good time to look at my record so far!

I ignored tied matches, giving me nice sampling totals of 32, 16, 16, and 32. Looks like when it comes to the middle of the pack, I agree very strongly with the board, but the correlation falls off as we get to the stronger matchups!

Engage the Enemy probably would have done better. I think that's the strongest Xenoblade 1 song. I'm not entirely sure Umineko's song was that weak even if it wasn't one of the retired Umineko songs.

XBC line-up is fine. It just went against B8's darling.

Personally, I think that Umineko track is weak as hell. Yes, I do tend toward the episode finales and the songs that sound like them, but there are other Umineko tracks I like. That and RIP aren't two of them. But even as much as I've ragged on RIP in the past, it's better than yesterday's track was.
