Schedules suck.

I am amazing from 5 AM to 11 AM, and okay from 11 AM to 1 PM, then am barely productive after 1PM. Nothing of quality gets produced after 3 PM.

Forcing me to work 8 AM to 7 PM five days a week isn't using me right.

Also, I use a lot of productivity techniques like Pomodoro and they work for me when doing menial tasks and have long interrupted periods for deeper tasks. When I have to answer my phone or a colleagues' phone 20-30 times a day, I can't do anything but small routine tasks.

I think I'm either going to start doing locums in a few years and get some free time, or find a career where I can work on a better schedule and preferably have some days of the week at home. Anyone in a job like this?

You don't say what it is you do.

Energy and focus, thus productivity, stoops very low in the afternoon. Especially if you have lunch, but honestly, even if you don't.

It's true, you did not say what it is you do.

I encourage you talk to me - out of the blue if need be - I'll definitely learn a thing or three.

Oddly when I worked construction we got more productive the later it got. Sure that had a lot to do with we actually had a time where we had to be off the property so we would start rushing to meet whatever goal we set for the day
