I did a quick reading of the more recent shootings listed by the Wikipedia article, and a common 'factor' is mental health state. Some shootings were done on military bases (or in public places) by current or ex-soldiers (PTSD?), some were done by individuals who were claimed to be depressed or suffer from anxiety. Mental health issues have also been a thing for decades: it's the culture and ease of radicalisation that leads to things like this. I don't think the second amendment in itself is what caused the shootings, but cutting back on it would definitely lessen the rate of shootings if it made it legitimately difficult to get firearms like this.
