Is this video correct? If so...Chrono Cross is better than I thought connection wise to chrono trigger. Why did Square drop the ball so hard at explaining the connection between the 2 games. ... Copied to Clipboard!

If you play it right after Trigger and read all the screens in the Chronopolis, it definitely answers a LOT of common questions people have.

I wonder what's happening on other worlds before Lavos fell on Earth because we know near the end of it's life it gives birth to spawn, planet dies, spawn scatter throughout the universe.

He did a pretty good job explaining everything.
Long answer made "short" about WTF is Chrono Cross? SPOILERS! Basically what needs to happen in order to defeat the Time Devourer is that someone needs to basically find a way to harness two powerful artifacts, from different dimensions. This is... difficult to say the least. People can and do move through time, but dimensions is another matter. Existing in two separate dimensions at once is not possible through conventional means. Belthasaur creates a computer system designed to research the problem. He also sets up to travel around in time in his main dimension to try and see WTF is going on. He sets up a crew to kinda oversee the computer system, this place being called Chronopolis. This computer system is completely self aware and has sentience of a sort. 100 years of research passes and the staff and FATE (this new computer systems name) use "The Frozen Flame", a powerful piece of Lavos. It has sentience of a sort as well, and when it is used to generate even more power in trying to find a way to stop the Time Devourer, it causes a Time Crash. This Time Crash basically tossed Chronopolis and the surrounding area 10,000 years into the past. The Frozen Flame, as a piece of Lavos, knows that Crono is set to destroy its main body. Therefore, it wants to try to make this event not happen. FATE, meanwhile, wants to ensure its own survival and the continuing research into how to stop the Time Devourer. FATE terra-forms the area into an enclosed sea, brainwashes the people in the area into thinking they were just regular people, and live a life as such. FATE does set up these Records of FATE for people to "pray" at (save points in the game) and continues to exert mental manipulation on them. But, what nobody knew was that the planet itself (The Entity) would not permit this sort of shit without a fight. When FATE went back in time, it allowed The Entity to also pull something back in time from another dimension. This was Dinopolis, a natural evolution of Reptites, in a dimension where Lavos never crash landed on the planet. Chronopolis and Dinopolis battled for the Frozen Flame and the future of their now shared dimension, with Chronopolis winning. Chronopolis gutted Dinopolis and split apart their supreme being (a machine/natural hybrid creature called the Dragon God) into 6 dragons. It used them to teraform the surrounding area. They mingled with humans and created Demi-Humans. FATE and the Dragons were doing "well" until settlers (just off the coast of the where Crono lived) came in around 920 AD. However, ALL of this was basically by machination of Belthasaur. Remember how he needed to create a scenario where a person could hold two artifacts from different dimensions at the same time? Well, enter the events of Chrono Cross. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

FATE knows that Serge is now "The Arbiter", the human body that has now locked it out of its power source. FATE uses its ability to mind control people to warp Wazuki into Lynx, and commands him to drown Serge. This happens in 1010 AD. He succeeds in drowning his son... but also doesn't. Turns out this is the epicenter of a dimensional vortex, all created again by Balthasaur. Balthasaur sends Kidd, a girl from 1020 AD, to stop the attack. This creates two dimensions. The main one (Keystone) where Serge dies, and one where Serge lives. FATE is aware of this and tries to counter-act it. FATE calculates that an alive Serge will be able to travel between dimensions in 1020 AD. It actually tries to have Lynx kidnap a scientist to help remove the lock... a woman named Lucca. Yup. Lynx however fails to abduct her, instead killing her and burning down the orphanage she was running. However, he failed to kill one of the children. That child... is Kidd. Again, through machinations of Balthasaur, Kidd is a clone of Schala, and as such as some special abilities, like the ability to travel between dimensions and affect time. Kidd, as explained before, is sent back in time to save Serge, and cause the dimensional vortex. There is the Keystone Dimension (the natural flow of events, with Serge dying), and "Home Dimension", where Serge is saved. FATE realizes that killing Serge won't really achieve its goals; instead needing the body to disengage the locks. Lynx, now its servant, is used to incite and control warring factions all to lure Serge to Fort Dragonia. Lynx forces Serge to switch bodies with him with the use of a Dragon's Tear. Lynx, now in Serge's body, has full ability to unlock the Frozen Flame. Serge, in Lynx's body, cannot travel between dimensions. He is stuck in "Home Dimension". He tries to acquire the Frozen Flame of that dimension, only to be met by Miguel. Miguel was tasked with defending the Frozen Flame of that dimension by FATE. Miguel is defeated, and FATE blows up that area, trying to kill Serge. Serge is saved by the Sky Dragon. Due to the Frozen Flame having been destroyed in this dimension, Serge is now able to dimension hop again. He goes to the Keystone Dimension, with FATE seeing he has the power to do-so once again. FATE has Lynx attempt to kill Serge and stop him from interfering (as it has postulated that since Serge can dimension hop again, maybe he can use the Frozen Flame even in this state) in its plans. Serge defeats Lynx and regains his body! Serge now has two pieces of Dragon's Tear, Serge follows Lynx to Chronopolis, defeating him there for the last time. This defeat also destroys FATE, which basically turns off all the defenses in Chronopolis. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

This merges the dimensions together, Schala saved and Lavos split from her, defeated. Schala uses the remaining bits of her power to merge all the dimensions together, with Serge having no memory of what happened. No word on if Crono, Lucca, etc. are alive or not in the new singular timeline/dimension. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
