After all that hype for years and years yet it kinda sucked. I played and beat it once and haven't been able to back into it.

I wish i could find Diablo II and play it again, it was more fun.

I probably put close to 1000 hours into it total. Eventually I got burned out but it's one of the best games I've ever played.

now it's practically a requirement to get the expansion if you want some longevity out of the game.

I mean almost everyone was RELATIVELY disappointed with Diablo 3, but I still played the shit out of it and find myself binging for a bit once every year or two. Reaper was a huge game-saver.

Really, my primary disappointment was just what a shitty Saturday Morning Cartoon joke the story and villains became. I hope the rumors of a Diablo 4 that's prioritizing a return to the gothic fantasy vibe are true.

they could just have upped the drop rate of items while keeping the AH. the drop rate before that was criminally low across the board.

Who would ever spend money on the AH if they easily got what they wanted? Not only that, the way the game worked at first, you would spend hours grinding for say, a bow for your Demon Hunter, only to get it and have a Str modifier, which is completely worthless to a DH. And on the off chance you actualy got what you wanted, with the stats you wanted, you better pray Blizzard didn't decide to nerf that playstyle. What's that? You spent $10 on a piece of equipment with Attack Speed because that's the meta and Blizzard didn't like it so they nerfed the shit out of it? Get fucked kid!

Oh? You found a nice secret area that lets you farm for equipment? Would be a real shame if we were to gut the drop rate to oblivion, wouldn't want people to stop spending money on the AH.

The AH was garbage and I will never spend money on games that implement it ever again.

I played it this year for the first time, I understand they put a lot of post release work into fixing it.

I enjoyed it. Especially after coming from Path of Exile. It was like doing a nice relaxing 6x6 grid of Sudoku after trying to solve the theoretical maths problem behind time travel.

the ones who wanted it to be even easier... that's not really hard logic to follow.
i mean how long do you think it'll take you to find the perfect ancient from the game in its current state? you can probably do it yourself but it still requires tons of grinding. enter the AH.

there could easily have been a balance between people finding loot at a decent rate and have the balance flipflop from patch to patch like you know... how it has been since the removal of the AH, whilst still keeping the AH.

I played it a ton at launch, the end game was really shitty back then, so overall it was a disappointment. But I mean I still got many hours of enjoyment out of it despite that. I tried Reaper of Souls because I heard it fixed a lot of the problems but I just didnt have that kind of time any more so I never got into it

However much it takes now, it'd take 10 times as long back then. The AH made the game a piece of shit, it was actually impossible to play on harder difficulties if you didn't have the gear, and getting the gear was impossible if you weren't playing on harder difficulties.

i think you're missing the point which is that there's nothing that stopped them from upping the drop rates and quality of items to what they currently are right now while still keeping the AH(and trading for that matter) intact.

if you're gonna ask what the point is in paying money for items then, i'll give you the same answer: because it's still gonna be easier and faster than spending time farming.
whales don't really care what edge a shortcut is gonna give them, they'll pay for it anyways because they can.

You don't seem to understand. The game was originally DESIGNED around the RMAH. You were meant to spend money to progress, or waste countless hours farming for nothing. The vast majority of people hated this, so Blizzard was forced to fundamentally change the game.

Also, pretty stupid to just be able to buy your gear in a game where the whole point is to kill things and get gear.

I liked the hell out of it. Then again, I never played a Diablo prior to it and was fairly new to ARPGs at the time - and I played the PS3 version.

And again I ask: What's the point of just buying the gear? There's nothing else to do in the game. Are you just gonna run rifts endlessly for no reason since you already have the best gear? Obviously you won't be able to buy things for seasonal characters, otherwise the game'd be pay to win.

you're pretty much asking why a rich person does stuff... it's because they can.

as far as the game is concerned, plenty of gear suits plenty of different builds for variety and as discussed earlier, the best gear one patch can end up being the worst gear the next.

I enjoyed it greatly. It was kinda raw at launch, unfortunately; I couldn't really recommend the game back then. Nowadays though, it's fun.
