He's holding his own decently, considering it seems like the entire debate is half of the panel going after him constantly.

Like, fucking enough already. Leave him alone.

Theyre just cannibalizing each other in these debates. Democrats need to unite together if they want to beat Trump.

Is this an owning like when you tell someone bazinga and your entire clique loses their minds and you totally "owned" them. Cause I see that happen allot and it's a common misconception for the real thing.

This happens every time he runs. He starts strong, opens his mouth, and people hate him.

He's like a Reagan that just can't pull it off. He's basically a worse Reagan.

he showed how out of touch he was when he suggested a $1000 copay was affordable for the average person

Co-pay or deductible?

Kinda a big difference there, chief

Ehhh if they get a lot of shit out of the way early it's less of an impact when Trump first brings it up.

I don't think we are at a point where the party is getting torn apart, just some idiots making fools of themselves.

This has more been a matter of him constantly being on the defensive as he's attacked by multiple competitors. Interestingly, the CNN pundits afterward mentioned that Trump took the same kind of treatment in stride and wound up dominating the field.

The problem with Biden -- like I noted before -- is that he probably could decisively beat Trump in general election debates, but he can't really figure out how to defend himself from attacks by his own party. It's stupid, too, since -- as those same pundits noted -- the others are basically attacking Obama's legacy and Obama apparently has a 95% DNC approval rating. And more hilarious still, the kinds of shaming that absolutely stumps Biden will do absolutely NOTHING to Trump in the general election because he doesn't really back down or apologize in the face of those kinds of allegations, he simply just hits back. And when a candidate tries to give Trump the same treatment, they get hammered down. When Jeb and Ben Carson tried to get in some digs, Trump derisively "praised" them for bringing a little more energy that night and shut them down.

True. Biden is basically being attacked exclusively from the left, and none of that will matter in the general election.

I was getting seriously frustrated how much time they spent on immigration, race, and so on. Like...the people who care deeply about that stuff are already voting for whoever has the (D) next to their name in November 2020. Meanwhile, a lot of independents and undecideds don't give a shit about that stuff and they're just giving Trump fodder to claim those are the things Dems care about the most.
Especially arguing for decriminalizing illegal immigration and giving them free healthcare, that shit wrote Republican attack ads for years to come. Sadly, while some bravely stood up to the leftist crowd and said no to those things, even if they win, they'll get smeared along w/ the entire party on it.

Talk more about the environment and climate change, and protecting our air and water! Bring up healthcare as much as possible! Talk about raising the minimum wage and repealing tax cuts for the rich! Talk about gun violence!
Talk about stuff that's important to everybody. They got crushed in 2016 by losing the midwest, and now are focused on appealing to some narrow fringe interests. *sigh*

I fully agree with this.

It's really ignorant how deeply they are trying to fall into Trumps pace in our own primary. Let him handle the race shit and talking about issues that just aren't a big deal.

Eh, you gotta win your party before you can have a shot in the general election. It's something of a fine dance where candidates simultaneously have to seem left/right enough to appeal to their base while simultaneously not alienating swing voters who either dislike or don't care about the issue. And Biden is definitely playing that long game by not veering too far to the left and letting voters know that he's not as extreme as the other guys... which might backfire if he doesn't get the party nomination. However, out of every running, he seems like he'd have the best chance of winning a general election whereas other candidates pander on issues that aren't going to win over swing voters (including free college and, more importantly, offering free college to illegal immigrants who can't vote anyway)

Granted, the biggest centrist in the game might be Delaney but he stands no chance of winning anyway because he has no name recognition and, because he's not championing or falling in line on far left issues, he's never going to get through the primaries.

I don't think you're going to win the midwest by talking about gun control =p That might play to Chicago and a few cities plagued by gun violence, but it's less likely to track in the swing areas. And, as a general rule, one of the big things that helped Trump was pushing economic issues and talking job growth. There's no reason why Democrats can't *try* to appeal to those interests, even if they rarely have solutions and the things they're known for (regulation and taxes) run contrary those areas. Especially since they *could* do things to reinvest in communities and provide business assistance or something.
