If youve never been scammed then the only options are you dont have a card or admit you have not been scammed yet but will get scammed in the future.

Wheres the option for youve never been scammed and dont think you will? Options seem a bit leading.

I know, right? I'd have gone for that. I'm always careful, and I only have one debit card anyway, no credit cards. I don't have enough money for anybody to care about scamming me.

It doesn't really matter what you have or how careful you are, such as what happened with Target. My debit card was used there a few months prior and all it took for mine and everyone else's cards to be compromised was someone hooked up to their computers for maintenance, using the free McAfee version

Debit cards are more dangerous to use than credit cards. If someone manages to get your debit card number, they can drain your account and while the bank is legally obligated to return your money after you file a complaint, they don't have to return it right away and they can charge you for overdrafts the entire time.

With a credit card, any disputed charges are placed on hold and you don't have to pay for them.

Get a credit card if you can, then ask your bank to cancel your debit card and give you a plain ATM card. An ATM card can only be used to withdraw cash from an ATM and cannot be used to make purchases.

If you have bad credit or no credit, most small banks and credit unions offer secured credit cards; you deposit money into a savings account and you're given a credit card with that amount as your limit. If you can demonstrate that you can handle the card wisely, they'll be glad to offer you an unsecured card with a higher limit. Shop around and make sure you get a card with no annual fee. If you pay it off every month, the interest rate is unimportant but it will bite you in the ass if you carry a balance.

I've had a credit card number stolen. I'd used it at only 2 stores, an Oriental grocery store and a coin shop. I found out the thief ordered coins off eBay using an account with a Chinese-sounding name, so my sleuthing didn't really help any. I turned everything over to the sheriff anyway, but I don't think anything ever came of it.

If you're talking to me... I should remind you, I have both bipolar disorder and dyscalculia. Ergo, credit cards will never happen for me. Not to mention that I don't have a high enough monthly income to qualify for any credit card or associated account that I've ever seen anywhere.

Anyway, it is as I have already pointed out, there just isn't ever enough in my account to make it worth stealing from me. I survive on government welfare, after all. It isn't a whole lot.

You can pretty much get a credit card no matter what you're income or anything is. It just won't usually be a good one... Or one with a high limit...

You're alive? You're above 18? Congratulations! You qualify for a credit card. They don't care if you have problems unless it makes so incapacitated or incompetent or incapable of taking care of yourself that you're under the care of another. And your problems aren't that bad, otherwise you wouldn't be posting on this site

Untrue.

Doesn't take much to post on GameFAQs. That's a low bar. I literally forget what I'm doing in the middle of doing it, can't work, can't fix food some days, can hardly get out of bed some days, yet still here I am. Left to my own devices, I'd die.

It's nice to be able to post places and not focus on that from time to time.

Also technically untrue if your parents screwed you over. My FiL screwed my husband so badly he had trouble getting a bank account at one point. Took a few years to get that all sorted, and even now not 100% sure how we FINALLY got that fixed. Still no credit card, which sadly enough apparently you're better off having abused a credit card than never having had one. :/

That being said, about 5 years ago or so my sibling got a credit card with no income while homeless. Filled out application as a joke, cause they were bored. And somehow got approved. They have mentioned it's much harder to get one now though than it was just a few years ago. Later tried to get one and even with a job and a decent income was denied due to student loan debt basically. (Was told the income to expenses ratio wasn't good enough. Was good enough with no income before.) So IDK. I know what I've seen with my own eyes, can only go by the information I have after all.

Idk. I think its pretty easy to get one. Getting a good one is much harder. But some places are kind of scummy and would rather have people who have a harder time paying to try to get more interest...

There's always exceptions. But I just remember filling out my draft card and that same month getting multiple credit card offers. They had terms so bad the mafia would look pleasant when comparing the two. Plus, this was over 20 years ago when regulations weren't so tight

But either way, they're not so disabled and helpless as to not be able to get a credit card
