Is this game the first attempt at nostaglia pandering to the 2000s era of media? Those that seemed so excited about this announcement just seem to be under 26. Nothing wrong with it just curious if people see it this way as well

I was born in 91, Spongebob premiered in 1999 so I was 8, definitely still watching cartoons. Bikini Bottom game came out in 2003 so I would have been 12. Not my type of game but definitely would appeal to people in my age range at the time.

I'm about to turn 28 so yeah idk

There aren't a lot of licensed tie-in games that get remasters, it seems. DBZ Budokai off the top of my head

This is probably the thing that most intrigued me about this remake.

Also the fact that they chose BFBB over Revenge of the Flying Dutchman.

BFBB has a fairly large speedrunning community. I always thought that it was mostly ironic in nature (like those groups who started playing Garfield Kart or that Shrek fighting game), but after I saw the announcement of the remake, I thought maybe it's not, it could be actual genuine popularity.

Or maybe they just saw how big the speedrun scene was and falsely extrapolated that into thinking that the overall game was bigger than it really was. But either way, I was surprised to learn how many people were legitimately excited for the remake.
