I've been doing a bit of reading and thinking on this, and the pages I've been reading heavily suggest that the Black Eagles is a more rewarding storyline, with its own bifurcation on top of the storyline. As a result, I may save that for a subsequent playthrough. Conversely, the Blue Lions are apparently a more straight-forward and traditional Fire Emblem experience, and The Golden Deer are kind of separate from the usual politicking that envelops the other houses.

As a result, I'll likely choose the Blue Lions first. What say you?

My second playthrough will be permadeath normal with Blue Lions

third playthrough permadetah hard with Golden Deer. I feel like the devs anticipated Golden Deer to be picked less frequently and would use that as sort of an add-on.

Black Eagles first because Edelgard is best girl, then I'll do a run for each of the other two, and finally I'll go with the Black Eagles again for the alternate route and ending.

I picked Deer first and in my point of view, it doesn't make sense to pick any other house first. Claude grew up away from all the nobility stuff and is actively constantly doing research to figure things out.

Golden Deer, mainly for Claude and Raphael. I like a lot of its characters though.

Went with Blue Lions. Didn't really have a specific reason for it, I was pretty undecided heading into the game. Glad I did, ended up really liking the characters in it, especially Dimitri. Granted I don't know much about the characters from other houses yet but it will be tough to top how much I liked this group.

That's why I'm not getting too hung up on what each individual person looks like in the early part of the game. They're all gangly, gawky teenagers at this point.

I love every Golden Deer gals except Leonie who has pretty much been nothing but a bitch with daddy issues to me at this point lol.

But Hilda isn't a bitch and is actually quite nice and caring, just that she's lazy as hell. Her interactions with Claude are hilarious. Lysithea is still a brat, but you can tell that she regrets being too harsh and sensitive about things, so I imagine she'd calm quite a bit after the timeskip. Marianne is a sweetheart. Not entirely into religious chicks per se, but I sorta relate to her lack of self-esteem and blaming self for things out of control.

Otherwise Ingrid and Dorothea are also great. I just wish you can S rank those two lmfao. Dorothea seemed all but ready to just marry the hell out of Ingrid
