There is a point of no return but it is obvious and they do warn you

The giant cable car

There's even an Easter egg hunt in the police station that you cant do until the sewers

It's not supposed to be "hidden" from sight but you get no prompt to pick it up, so you have to pick it up on faith unlike every other item in the game.

IT's a reference because in the original game you found it by searching the desk 50 times (each time it just gave a generic "The desk is messy" style message)

So they kept the Easter Egg but made it less stupid.

Someone who hasn't played the original finding it without help is quite impressive, well done.

I get it. The game just gets so much easier once you figure out all its mechanics. The intensity of that first blind play is something special that cant be reproduced IMO.

I got killed by the crane 5 times and now I learned the plant fuckers get back up even if I shoot all of their sacs, and they instakill if they grab you

Ammo has been at a premium for me for a while so the labs are... not fun

Also Im surprised Im still Leon. This seems really deep into the games plot.

So, I beat Leon's story. 2nd run is the "B" mode? Do I get Leon B from beating Claire B or do I have to beat Claire A? Regardless I will do her B story first anyways.

Speaking of B that's the rank I got... close to 6 hour completion time.

Don't worry about 2nd Run.

Just playthrough again as Claire.

All 2nd run does is skip the intro and change a couple of minor details. No plot change.

Also if you care about ranks, RE2make is surprisingly generous.

S+ Rank on Hardcore is just: Save Less Than 3 times, Beat the game in under 2.5 hours and don't use infinite cheat weapons.

So you can heal as much as you like and accuracy doesn't matter.

In order to unlock Leons B run you have to finish Claire A.

But yeah I would do Claire B to complete the story you started and see the full ending.

How are you liking Claires Single Action Army? Its a bit awkward and slow, but it does really good damage.

Both characters get special handguns for the B scenarios.

Its pretty ok. Just dont like how many shots it takes to cripple a zombie. The alternate route + stricter inventory have made this just as stressful as my first playthrough lol

It would take me 3 shots in the legs to cripple them with Leon.

By that I mean, leg comes off. Theyre permanently crawling. Thats what I do for areas I have to come back to.

Killing them takes too much ammo. Also the fatter zombies take more shots to stumble/cripple.

Anyways which 9mm gun is better? I just got the JMB Hp3 from the cop car trunk and it takes the same ammo as the SLS60 (starting gun)

Yeah but I mean, some places see so much foot traffic that I feel its more efficient to neutralize the zombies. Maybe Ill feel differently whenever I decide to do Hardcore though.

Mr X has been on my ass a lot more in Claire B and Ive been bitten by more than a few zombies Ive let be...

Hardcore isn't that bad.

You have limited saves and zombies hit harder, but if it's like your 3rd playthrough you should know the station pretty well.

The only time I really felt a difference was the boss fights. I seemed to always end up with hardly any ammo on Hardcore where as I would have tons on Normal.

I'm not 100% sure but I think this game has a similar system to RE4 where weapons and explosives do more damage to bosses if you are low on ammo.

I mean I know the zombie damage is semi-randomized but if you miss a lot and get bit a lot, they will get weaker, if you headshot a lot and never get bit they get stronger.

Yeah the JMB HP is better, probably the best 9mm in the game. The laser sight makes it always do full damage, so you get the focused benefit instantly and it allows faster follow-up shots.

UR you are correct about the adaptive difficulty, this game has it as well. It works pretty much the way you described. Dying makes it drop down an entire tier.

I stopped before I had to go into the clock tower again last night.

- I find myself saving a lot less but backtracking a lot more (to use the storage trunk). I find myself having to juggle my inventory a lot more this time... this is a major pain considering they removed the trunk in the main lobby of the RPD.

- Smg wrecks. I was missing Leons shotgun a lot but Im okay now that I have this.

- Whats really the canon of this game? Like, Leon left a note for Claire in the S.T.A.R.S. office, but then she also fights G and is being pursued by the same Mr X as Leon was (and has to douse the helicopter fire he supposedly already put out).

No one knows.

Since the original game had 4 story variations, this is a Remake that brings elements from all 4 of those scenarios into 2 scenarios..

Clarie A/Leon B is probably the official canon in that it is the most coherant.

I.E: Leon reaches sewers first, so there are dogs in the basement. When Claire gets there they are dead (either by Leon or by Lickers)

Leon gets KOed in the Sewers which allows Claire to overtake him and reach the lab first and open the thing for Leon.

But in reality the scenarios don't line up probably. Things contradict each other. Not only do you fight the same bosses but characters need to be in two places at once.

Canon in Resident Evil is like the points in Whose Line Is It Anyway.

The game where everything's made up and canon doesn't matter.

Personally In my head canon Leon does most of the fighting and heavy lifting while Claire ran around trying to protect the girl.

Not out of sexism but because in canon Leon went on to do RE4 and RE6 and a ton of movies were he is a bad ass zombie fighter.

Where as Claire canonically became an anti-zombie activist trying to create political pressure and formed a group of Zombie reponse team nurses. She doesn't come across like an aggressive fighty personality.

While I'm ranting a couple of canon things they changed from the opening in the original which I don't like.

1. In the original Leon gives Claire a gun at the start. Claire was unarmed. This to me makes more sense, why the fuck is Claire, a timid young college girl walking around with a gun at a gas station?

2. In the original they were already in the city when they discovered zombies, they didn't discover zombies THEN drive in like idiots. Hell if Zombies have already left the city then America is fucked.

3. In the original Leon was late for work because he was hungover after drinking all night because he was dumped. In the new one the cops told him to stay away..... So he came a week later...? Wut....

Not sure what they were going for with those changes, they seem to all be needlessly negative.

It's not too bad, Normal/Assisted give you plenty of hip pouches throughout the game so you have enough room to carry most of your weapons. You just have to get used to not having more than 1 or 2 healing items and only 1 defensive item at any given time.

I still have a couple extra mode records to complete (2 of the Tofus and beating No Way Out using less than 60 handgun rounds)

I've beaten the game without healing on Hardcore, I don't I need the space for healing herbs.

It's just the combination of not being able to put away items you don't want would mean either:

1. Planning out exactly what you need to do before hand based on advanced knowledge.

Which is boring.

or 2. Not using the weapons/items you want to use and just winging it in terms of space in case you fuck up.

Which is boring.

Doesn't sound like a fun challenge to me.

Sort of like "Beat the game while pouring custard all over yourself." just seems silly rather than fun
