probably making reference to how through memory editing you can execute arbitrary code in Pokemon Yellow with nothing more than in-game keypresses

You can do the same in Mario 3, technically.

that's not glitchy or buggy though. it's exploits based purely around the fact that the games were made so goddamn well that they refuse to crash.

*sigh* LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean and LEGO Jurassic World. The former has game-breaking glitches as well as platinum-breakers, and the disc edition of the latter liked to crash my entire console, along with randomly pausing whenever the operable character moved into certain loading areas. TT have a lot to answer for on that series! And LEGO The Hobbit, much as I love it, crashed 3 times before I even got as far as Rivendell, one of which was during an FMV. Ridiculous.

Fallout New Vegas in it's vanilla form.
Suikoden II

The former is easily fixed on PC with a couple mods. The latter was a nightmare during my first playthrough.

There are definitely a fair few bugs in RBY though. The infamous MissingNo, Focus Energy cut your crit rate instead of increasing it, Toxic and Leech Seed worked off the same counter and increased twice as fast if you were affected by both which is really weird considering Leech Seed shouldn't even need to count how many turns have passed. The invisible PC in Celadon Hotel, surfing in gym statues, 100% accuracy moves having a 1/256 chance to miss just to name a few.

GSC was a lot better in this regard but still had a few bugs including cloning, some of the custom Pokeballs didn't work as intended, Belly drum still increased attack even if you have less than half HP, Dragon Fang didn't increase Dragon-moves powers but Dragon Scale did, among others.

I would maybe call RBY a buggy mess and even that is a bit of a stretch since a lot of the bugs wouldn't be noticed in normal gameplay but definitely not GSC.

those aren't actually bugs.

they're stack overflow issues, typically any other game would just crash.

not pokemon, they were designed to just not do that, which meant the game just grabbed whatever variable it now pointed to.

missingno is the best example of that because you had to set it up in a specific way to fuck the call table up. it's also why catching it broke the game, because you were catching garbage data that didn't have any proper calls. so when the game was reset, your save was now broken.

The original Pokemon games is very glitchy and flawed.
Still, those are probably the only Pokemon games I can always come back to and play and not get bored.

Came here to say this. As much as I loved New Vegas, the glitches and crashes happened with infuriating frequency.
