Great music, fun cast of characters, no rubber banding BS, fun mechanics for three different vehicles, and can be insanely brutal in later courses and Mirror Mode.

What I'd do for a proper sequel...

My name's Krunch! BLEHHHH

I damn near wore my hands to nothing 100%ing Mirror Mode yesterday, lol. My hands HURT today. But in a good way. You have to play nearly perfect in that mode, and it gets really intense.

I loved everything about that game, except for the game being really "kiddy", but it was such a great game I got over it mostly

Yeah. Instead, we got a remake on the DS. I enjoyed that game too, even if I did miss my man Banjo.

Lol yeah, but it's a complete and total deception. The game takes an absurd amount of skill to master... it looks like a kiddie game, but goddamn is it brutal.

I never did beat the developer times on Windmill Plains or Crescent Island. Pretty sure you have to use the tapping A trick for Windmill Plains, and you either have to hit the shortcut on Crescent Island flawlessly every lap or use the A trick for it too or both if I remember correctly. Beat everything else though, the game is so much better than Mario Kart.

Incidentally, Diddy Kong Racing is the origin of my username, since we were babysitting some kids and I unlocked T.T. for them when they went to bed as a surprise for them when they woke up the next morning, prompting them to call me "The Nintendo Master".

I unlocked T.T. long ago, somehow, when I was still babby. I can't recall if I ever once used the tapping A trick.

Yeah, I can't even remember how I discovered that.

I remember just driving around the hub world randomly, running into the sign, then a cutscene happens with my character driving into a lighthouse AND BLASTING INTO FUCKING SPACE.

That blew my babby mind.

Agree 100%, TC

I remember trying to beat T.T. on Ancient Lake and thinking "wtf that's way too hard". A few months later, I came back and slowly but surely started beating him on each track one by one. It was so satisfying to unlock him... he's a great prize.

The silver coin challenge in mirror mode is insane haha... they put those damn things anywhere they please and it's like "yeah you have to go out into the water for this one, and -still- get first... good luck with that" LOL

That's literally like one of those "urban legend secrets" that ask you to do a whole bunch of weird, convoluted crap, except this time it's real. It's funny.

Dude, the Greenwood Village silver coin challenge damn near broke my spirit. They put those coins so far off the beaten path... one of them you literally have to go in yhe grass and slow down by a few seconds to get. Meanwhile, the AI racers are zooming by, presumably laughing at your stupid ass.

Crescent Island was also absurd. Yeesh... I'm having PTSD of yesterday!

When I said the developer times, I meant the times that are shown after the credits, which are even shorter times required than what's necessary to unlock T.T.. Unlocking T.T. was easy compared to the developer times.

Ah those times... yeah T.T. was relatively easy on most courses if you used the right character for the job.

The developer times? I'll have to try those.

Also, let's give it up for this game's music... such classic/memorable tracks.

I have to say I'm shocked that playtonic (or some other indie company) hasn't taken it upon themselves to make an updated version of this game or all new game that is just like it... a cart racing adventure game.
