Can't wait for all the controversial opinions! OoT still stands the test of time even to this day, so I reckon it'll get the majority of votes. MM will likely be up there as as well as the underdog, and of course BotW will also soar. I suspect SS to get the least amount of votes.

My personal vote goes to TWW. Not only is it my favorite Zelda, it's also my favorite game of all time. Granted, I'm a little biased since it's the first Zelda I ever beat, but I fell in love as soon as I played it.

My ranking:

1.) TWW
2.) MM
3.) OoT
4.) TP
5.) SS
6.) BotW

I'm not being edgy; BotW is last on my list only because I haven't beaten it yet. I will admit, though, that I'm not the biggest fan. It deviates too much from the classic Zelda formula I've grown to love. It's definitely a beautiful game, but I just haven't been able to get into it. I'll give it another shot eventually.

Id say WW but OOT still has better combat. Idk why but it still feels so sharp.

WW has great combat. It's just that the enemies suck too much for you to actually need to utilize it.

I've only played Wind Waker and OoT. Of the two my favourite is the Wind Waker

Never played Skyward Sword and I feel it's unfair to compare Breath of the Wild as it's radically different. Otherwise it would take 1st place easily

I love TP but I kind of get what you mean that it feels like its about to get to the BEST part for the entire game and doesnt totally arrive. Arbiters Grounds is probably the closest point, or the yeti manor.

The valid criticisms are:
-Railroaded progression
-Wonky controls
-Fi wont shut up and excessive handholding
-You have to fight the most annoying boss ever at least 3 times

BUT the game contains some of the best dungeons in the series, and that alone makes the game worth playing for any Zelda fan, since dungeons are the reason we play the games.

My ranking:

1.) Twilight Princess
2.) The Wind Waker
3.) Ocarina of Time
4.) Skyward Sword
5.) Breath of the Wild (Note: I haven't gotten off the plateau so I can't give a fair ranking)

Good dungeons eclipse almost everything else in a Zelda game for me & I have a weakness for sky areas in general, so a combination of that seems difficult not to love, even putting into account the controls + how annoying Fi supposedly is.

I loved TP but like another dude said ITT, the game was so damn deceptive... had me pumped for an epic (using the word in its literal context don't clown on me!) climax that basically never came. I'll take OoT's openly bland & memorable Hyrule Field over TP's deceptively bland & forgettable Hyrule Field any day of the week.

Generally I'm pretty cynical with remakes but this is 100% fair. I played OoT for the first time in 2010 & jumped on the "OoT is overrated" bandwagon real quick... then I got a 3DS with OoT3D a year later & finally realized just how good the game is. Still prefer vanilla MM (haven't played MM3D) over both versions, but they're all fantastic games!

skyward sword is a game where basically everything good about it is not gameplay related at all. It has cool aesthetic enviroment design but poor gameplay environment design. It's got some really sweet cinematic bosses which are unfortunately more flashy than fun. It has a ton of nods and references to other zelda games which are neat every time you notice them but unfortunately don't make the act of playing the game any better

basically I think it's the sort of game that would be about as fun to watch as to play

Breath of the Wild is an easy win for me. I only got into Zelda about 5 years ago though.

Windwaker was better than I thought it would be and Majora's Mask was a bit disappointing. The rest were about as expected. Haven't played Skyward Sword.

But dungeons are part of gameplay and the Ancient Cistern is one of the best dungeons in the series.
