R Kelly, eat your heart out! This kid doesn't just film himself committing sexual violence, but he even explicitly references his act as sexual violence! Should have been the easiest case in the world for prosecutors and a no-brainer for that brainless judge.

I hope that the homeowners are also being charged for allowing an unsupervised party where alcohol was served, etc.

Everything else aside, I'm not sure what the point of having major/minor laws is if we constantly make exceptions and try people as adults. Might as well just strip away the minor designation at that point and leave age as a discretionary matter.

I don't think this wide of a statement is accurate. There's a lot of people who are genuinely ignorant of boundaries and who have learned very toxic behavioral scripts that wouldn't behave the way they do if they had been taught differently from an early age.

You're right that this kid isn't one of them, he's a knowing, gleeful rapist.

16 is not a youth.

Except according to society and the law it is. You don't get to just pick and choose when someone is an adult and when they aren't. This is why teenage rebellion exists and it can get so bad. In every other civilization on earth teenagers were adults. According to basic human biology, teenagers are adults. Yet we treat them like small innocent children that don't know any better. Yet when they do something we don't like they are punished like they are an adult, even though they are constantly being told they are not. You don't get to tell someone they have all the responsibility of an adult, but none of the privileges. There are dozens of psychologists that have done studies about how the "pushing back of adulthood" is doing real psychological harm to teenagers. But, doctors right? What do they know.
