This is a topic to rate the contest strength of potential newcomers in the current contest environment.

I will pick the characters to rate and discuss for each day from user nominations - whoever the 3 most nominated characters are at that time. If there are more than 3 I will pick randomly. You can nominate any number of characters at any time, but you cannot nominate the same character twice.

All characters who were present in the 2018 Character Battle will NOT be eligible. Otherwise you can nominate any character that has appeared in video games; even comic book characters. This will exclude real-life athletes who have only appeared in long running sports series, however I will accept those who have their own games such as Shaq. I will accept nominations for iconic gaming duos too, if both members of said duo are named in the title of a game (Banjo-Kazooie, Sam & Max Hit the Road, etc).

Each day will have a separate topic, and nominations will carry over. As far as actually rating the character's contest strength; I ask that users rank a characters potential strength with one of the following qualifiers - Low Fodder, Mid Fodder, High Fodder, Fodder Line, Low Midcarder, Midcarder, High Midcarder, Near Elite, Elite, LAW Tier (capable of beating Link). I will average all the ratings given to a character to come up with their final ranking. I have included a highlighted entrant from Character Battle X on each tier of the strength rankings below, to provide a baseline for each.

I'm going to say Agent 47 is high fodder. Hitman and Hitman 2 have been big successes (well, I mean, Square sold off the rights after 1 but that's more a bad business decision than anything else) and the games actually being good and a ton of fun to watch have really elevated Agent 47's stock IMO. People seem to actually like him now, he's been given a heavy dose of personality and it shows. I think he could potentially impress, or impress as far as fodder goes now.

Dark is low fodder that's like the most zen character ever and that's a bad thing

Mike Haggar is mid fodder simply because Capcom doesn't seem to give him any play anymore. he's strong in certain circles but I don't think this is one of them.

Agent 47 is Mid Fodder. Gfaqs just doesn't care about the Hitman franchise that much, and Agent 47 doesn't stand out design-wise.

Dark is Mid Fodder based solely on design - he might be an obscure character but he's still a Predator.

I'll go with High Fodder for Haggar due to his memetic bad*ss reputation and appearances in classic games. He's also a wrestler, which Gfaqs seems to like.

Agent 47: Mid Fodder - Contrary to Zen, I would say that the two most recent Hitman games came and went without any sort of impact in most circles, which the sales and reception data I can find for them seems to agree with. In terms of mainstream discussion, the only context in which I recall either game being notable is in terms of people bashing Hitman for being episodic, and the series has never been popular on GameFAQs. It seems like Board 8 is one of the few internet circles that genuinely took to the new Hitman games, though that relevance means 47 should at least be able to stay around where he was in 2013.

Dark: Low Fodder - Looking at its design, I don't feel like Dark is going to be benefiting too much from looking like a Predator. What I was really interested in when nominating Dark was gauging what effect the name Dark would have on a character's strength. I think the GameFAQs of ten years ago would have taken well to Dark's superficial appeal, whereas Dark's name and character design aren't going to be positives on the GameFAQs of today.

Mike Haggar - Mid Fodder - He jobbed horribly to Jill in his only contest appearance, and I don't feel there was enough SFF there to make a difference. Guile seems like a strong comparison to me.
