I knew Mysterio was a bad guy so that reveal was expected, but it's still mindblowing seeing how he pulled off illusions that actually still caused harm. And the illusion attack on Spider-Man to screw with his mind was awesomely done. As for the post credits scenes...wow. JK Simmons as Jameson made me really happy, but I have no idea where they're gonna take it next now that Spidey's identity is out to the public. Also...since I haven't really followed the MCU that much other than for Spider-Man, what was the second one about? Something about Nick Fury having an army of Skrulls in a space station?

Great movie, I just wish someone hadn't sit right next to me with a noisy and distracting kid.

I thought it was great too.

No one really knows where the MCU is going next, but that last extra scene leads me to believe we haven't seen the last of the Kree vs Skrulls, or possibly setting up Secret Wars.

The shapeshifters pretending to be Hill and Fury were Skrulls, one of which (the one playing Fury) was a major character in Captain Marvel

But yeah the movie was so good, and bring JK Simmons back as Jameson was amazing

it took everything I had not to squeeeeeee when JK Simmons showed up.

one of the few absolutely perfect castings in the genre, and I'm so happy he made it through the reboot.

And Tom Holland absolutely excels at bringing that emotional impact to the role, far more than the other two.

Homecoming, Infinity War and Far From Home have each had one scene from him that made me teary eyed.

People that say Tobey Maguire is better are tripping off of nostalgia.

Yeah, Tom Holland is 100% the best live action Spider-Man by far. The writing is definitely part of that but he's crushed the emotional scenes he's gotten and is great at the comedic stuff too.

I feel like Homecoming and Far From Home have the best cast of "minor" characters in any comic book movie

I'd be legit sad if anything happened to any of them, even Flash.

I'm one of the very few that believe Garfield, unmasked scenes, delivered the best emotional performances.

I agree...It's not often that I actually feel for a super-hero when he's experiencing self-doubt, but he really nailed it in Far From Home.

I've said it in another thread but the first illusion scene where he brings Iron's man corpse into it was just so damn good.

I also found the whole Nick Fury being a skrull twist to be...something. it certainly gives some perspective on the moment when "Fury"/Skrull dude said "don't invoke her name like that" when Peter casually brought up Captain Marvel (The Skrull must really idolize her after all she's done for them). There was also a moment where fake Fury brought up the Kree midway through the film, though I didn't entirely catch what he said at the moment.

I thought it was a pretty solid film. I thought Homecoming was better overall. I think my biggest problem is that they repeatedly kept pushing Spiderman as the "next Iron Man", which I think doesn't make much sense. He's not a leader or the most tech savvy of the group (Shuri). Peter also just randomly gives the glasses to Mysterio instead of other actual Avengers who should much rather get it first before someone he just met.

Flash is underrated. I felt so bad for him at the end when his mom didn't even come see him after he was almost killed.

It was kinda played for small laughs, but that shit hurts.

Yeah, I'm honestly really bummed they killed off one of the best characters we've seen yet in the same film he debuted in. But at least he got a pretty good send off with a seemingly large impact. Fuck. He nailed that role so hard.

It's the best Spider-Man movie not named Spider-Verse. I was wondering where they'd go after reinventing the Spider-Man origin story with Homecoming, but I should have known they would nail every part of this Spidey who now has a little more experience under his belt.

There's already been so much said about the illusion scenes, so instead I'll say how much I Ioved the Mysterio reveal scene. It's the MCU/millennial equivalent of him having a whole studio and camera crew behind him while he chews the scenery over how brilliant he is. Again the writers know the plot beats that Spidey fans are familiar with, and know how to rework it all for a new Marvel universe and new generation of fans. Hell, they actually do it better than the other heroes' series apart from (maybe) Captain America.

One thing I don't get is when Spider-Man was building his dream suit why didn't he throw in some heat vision or ultraviolet lenses or something. Because the illusions don't actually exist he wouldn't have even seen them.

That's a good point, maybe he didn't exactly think that far?

On another topic of the same scene, what suit cameos were there when the holograms showed up? I know a couple of them looked familiar and I swear they put in the PS4 Insomniac suit there as well.

Even though he customized every aspect, he kept the tech level noticeably lower than the original suit. I think after trying to do a deep dive into everything that Stark gave him, he learned he needs to trust his own ability more. Spider Sense is enough to beat Mysterio, but if he instead relies on technology to do everything, he'd be right back to where he was in Homecoming.
