You probably also have the 90s cartoon in mind, where he was significantly heavier

Plus the photos you're showing aren't good shots. He's pretty clearly fat in other photos.

That or you're thinking of Addams Family Reunion, where he was absolutely gigantic.

Which, by the way, was one of Tim Curry's less memorable films.

The second year I was coaching youth soccer, it was 2003. I had such an obese 11 year old on my team, I was scared she was going to have a heart attack. She was just under five foot and well over two hundred pounds. Severe asthmatic too (shocking I know). Mom was grossly obese, as was dad, so I wasn't surprised where she got it from.

I constantly had to sub her out after about 30 seconds of any form running because she was out of breath and gasping for air. She was the ONLY one in the league like this. But there were some very chunky kids. Like 2 to 3 per team in a 8 team league

Last time I coached (3 years ago), there were 5 kids like her and about 5-6 really chunky kids per team in a 6 team league. Same age group, but less teams and twice as many overweight kids

Keep in mind that technology at the time was incapable of carrying a 600+ lb man... and, of course, knowledge about how fat people could get was limited. Granted, it's unlikely he was only 280 since even at that time it wasn't incredibly uncommon to see people that fat.

Honestly, when you consider Charles Addams's original illustrations, the animation is in keeping with the original vision. The problem is that so many people tend to associate the franchise with what was built off the original tv show, which gave the family a different aesthetic.

In fact, I'd say they did a pretty damn good job of matching the original look.

A lot of the concepts arguably work better in an animated form.

Ehhhh, keep in mind that by the time Reunion came out, Christina Ricci and whoever played Puggsley would have been too old to reprise their roles. And if Raul Julia had returned to play Gomez, that would be pretty fucking impressive considering he had been dead for several years at that point. (Making Street Fighter his very last movie.)

Christina Ricci is great in most things. The biggest major exception to jump to mind was Cursed, but pretty much everybody was awful in that terrible movie... although it *did* have that great moment where a werewolf gave people the finger, which was one of my favorite gifs.

Considering the cast around him and with the history of the show, I think it should have focused with a storyline more on Gomez and Morticia instead. That's not to say he didn't do a good job. But the story felt "forced" I guess? Flat?

Yo Mead maybe you should make like Duckbear and ignore all the responses to your topic if you don't like people having opinions that differ from yours instead of asking somebody to make a separate topic to hold the same damn discussion. Or maybe you could stick to making topics about things I don't like, such as a Bernie Sanders appreciation topic.

Uncle Fester is probably the second-most important character in the family, after Gomez. He's always had a disproportionate amount of coverage.
