(not a spoiler at all for Obra Dinn)

Actually I'm sure GoW and RDR2 are fine games, but Obra Dinn only sold 200k copies according to steamspy :(

I don't even know what I am looking at. Every time I buy one of these hipster indie games I feel like I was ripped off. I hate how they sacrifice game play and basically everything that makes a game fun in the name of art.

Ah, its Return of the Obra Dinn. What examples do you have for an indie games were gameplay was sacrificed for the name of art?

What was the last indie game you bought where you felt ripped off? And how much was it if you recall?

Isn't that what rdr2 did? A lot of annoying elements added for the sake of art?

The amount of back tracking in that game just killed it

I heard Obra Dinn was cool as hell

I wager you would enjoy it. Your average voting citizen though I wouldn't recommend it to.

I liked the backtracking. But then again I'm the person who spent way too many hours exploring the first area in Ocarina of Time. And i'm pretty sure I spent 2 hours in Riverrun in Skyrim before going to the barrow. >_>

The last indie game I played was planet alpha and it is very clear they cared more about making the backgrounds than the game play which is basically just walk left while occasionally jumping and running into poorly designed stealth sections while using a poorly implemented ability to change day to night which basically boils down to making flowers bloom to make platforms. And I am sure thet thought the story was incredibly deep when in reality it was pretty clichd when it comes to indie games.

I agree with that one example, I didn't get planet alpha as i didn't see anything intriguing to play in it.

You solved a mystery giving you the illusion you did it all yourself.

Compared to say L.A. Noire, which is another good mystery, but its more like reading a novel or watching LA Confidential as you eventually are lead to solutions despite your actions, and you feel like the game is holding your hand to guide you.

LA Noire didn't scratch that itch for deduction or those EUREKA I'M A GENIUS moments.

Its the same kind of feeling you get when you beat the hardest boss in Dark Souls. Just that pure release of endorphins knowing you are the greatest.
