This is a topic to rate the contest strength of potential newcomers in the current contest environment.

I will pick the characters to rate and discuss for each day from user nominations - whoever the 3 most nominated characters are at that time. If there are more than 3 I will pick randomly. You can nominate any number of characters at any time, but you cannot nominate the same character twice.

All characters who were present in the 2018 Character Battle will NOT be eligible. Otherwise you can nominate any character that has appeared in video games; even comic book characters. This will exclude real-life athletes who have only appeared in long running sports series, however I will accept those who have their own games such as Shaq. I will accept nominations for iconic gaming duos too, if both members of said duo are named in the title of a game (Banjo-Kazooie, Sam & Max Hit the Road, etc).

Each day will have a separate topic, and nominations will carry over. As far as actually rating the character's contest strength; I ask that users rank a characters potential strength with one of the following qualifiers - Low Fodder, Mid Fodder, High Fodder, Fodder Line, Low Midcarder, Midcarder, High Midcarder, Near Elite, Elite, LAW Tier (capable of beating Link). I will average all the ratings given to a character to come up with their final ranking. I have included a highlighted entrant from Character Battle X on each tier of the strength rankings below, to provide a baseline for each.

Tom Nook: Mid Fodder - Isabelle tanked last contest (even if she was in an unfavorable situation) and the Animal Crossing series has essentially sat dormant since New Leaf, so I'm choosing to play it safe here.

Venom Snake: Mid Fodder - In other words, what Quiet would have been with actual TJF in her picture. I'm not confident the Snake association gives any larger a boost at this point in time.

Pyra: Mid Fodder - GameFAQs can't get enough of anime-styled TJF / general sex appeal, and Pyra's source, while niche, is substantially more popular than Danganrompa. As with most similar characters, though, match pictures are a potential X-factor.

Agree with Mid Fodder for Tom Nook.

For Venom Snake I agree with Mid Fodder. Even though he looks like Snake, I don't think people liked his role in the game.

Pyra I think is High Fodder. Xenoblade 2 is honestly not that niche; it is probably the biggest RPG on the Switch. It got overshadowed a bit since it released close to BotW and Odyssey. And Pyra has been popular for. . . waifu-related reasons.

Nook - Mid fodder - As popular as Animal Crossing is, it has never done anything more than get blown away on this site. When finishing ahead of Zelos in 4-ways is the closest thing you have to even a moral victory, that doesn't bode well.

Pyra - Low fodder. Shulk isn't even remotely strong, and he has Smash and the far more popular game under his belt. Pyra could be an utter loser.
