48 y/o Anthony Corrao, the Orlando Florida Man who killed Pinky, a beloved flamingo at Busch Gardens was KILLED after he was HIT by a TRUCK, 2 months before he was to go on trial for animal cruelty!!

He was killed on June 2th when he was struck by a pick up F-150 truck while trying to cross a busy road near his home

The driver was not cited but the investigation is still continuing

His death comes around 2 months before he was due to go on trial for animal cruelty charge

He gained notoriety in August 2016 after he grabbed a pink feathered Flamingo out of a pen and SLAMMED it to the ground with such force before stomping it once as it was so badly injured it had to be euthanized

He was visiting the theme park with his mother and daughters when he grabbed Pinky from the pen and killed it where her foot was nearly SEVERED...

Stephen Hegarty said he handled the bird so "violently" that it suffered traumatic injuries and couldnt be saved

A witness said he was plastered and that his mother tried to move him away from the bird before he grabbed it

Pinky was transported to an animal care centre where vets decided to humanely euthanize her based on the severity of her injuries

He was detained by park's security and arrested for felony animal cruelty where he was jailed for 5 days

He apologized and asid he wa just trying to "show off to his daughter" but didn't mean to hurt the bird.

Pinky was a 19 y/o Chilean Flamingo, hatched at Busch Gardens in 1996

Her dancing movements made her one of the park's stars and "diva extraordinaire" as spokeswoman Karen Varga-Sinka said Pinky loved to dance for guests that are filter feeders and used their beaks to strain tasty morsels out of the water

The death enraged animal lovers who created petitions for harsher penalities for animal abusers and demanding justice as Corrao was attempting to use the "mental health" defense

Psychologists found he suffeed from PTSD, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia was not fit to go on trial. He was also disabled on Social Security payments

But after he was declared competent, he prosecution moved to try again him set for August and now upon learning of his death, they dropped the charges

He's had a history of violence of animal cruelty including killing 2 chained dogs at point blank range with a SHOTGUN in 2014 as well as drug charges and a DUI and child abuse
