Lots of 17 year old kids are signed up for student loans through their parents. Like lots of HS seniors, I really didnt have a choice...I either go to college and take out loans to pay for it, or I dont go to college and my parents disown me.

Definitely cant put the blame on 18 year old kids who are told sign on the dotted line. Honestly, I didnt even have a true vision of how much I was going to owe after college until I graduated and got my first bill from Great Lakes.

Yeah, I agree. Its a loan that you take out as an adult. Im sorry that the people have to pay back money, but its audacious to suggest that it should be forgiven because we dont want to pay it. The Obama administration made getting a degree easier than its ever been, and as a result, having a degree no longer helps you stand out. A college degree is a half step above a high school degree now.

If we forgive any kind of debt, it needs to be medical debt. Its lazy and selfish to want your student loans paid off when there are people being sent home from the hospital owing tens of thousands of dollars for a procedure that should cost $100.

We dont even need to be talking about student debt when this many people are literally ruined over something that wasnt their fault.

I didn't take any loans.
I made sure I could pay for college by searching an applying for scholarships.
Even with all that done, I could not afford a fancy school and so I went to one fairly cheap. It was almost a community college but not quite.

Now some guy who went to a school that cost the price of a new house took out a loan and is upset about it.

Somehow that is ok but student loan is not?

I know you can take away a car but can't the knowledge of college.

However, point is, in one instance you can expect an 18 yr old to be responsible and in another you can't?

If mom and day took a 17 yr old and had them sign the loan, maybe mom and dad should be the responsible party to pay.

i personally wouldn't vote for something like this, and think its a bad idea. but if it happens then i guess i just wont have a student loan anymore...not sure how it helps people that really need help as most college grads generally come from middle to upper class.

That is actually a good point. I didnt go to college right after high school because we couldnt afford it and I wasnt going to put myself in debt, so I saved myself that hassle. And Im actually in college now because my job is paying for it, so thats cool.

But yeah, I dont like the idea of having to pay for someone elses college.

The real problem, IMO, is how disgustingly expensive some schools are.
