If the two boys who identify as girls had not been allowed to compete as girls, Selina says, she would have placed sixth and had the opportunity to run the 55 in front of college coaches at the New England regionals.

This implies that five other cisgender women beat her. Was that unfair, too?

MtF transgenders shouldn't be allowed to compete in sports with biological women until they are no longer "trans" IE: male equipment has been removed and they are on the proper female hormone regimen. Testosterone is a helluva drug, there is really no way (aside from steroids or test injections) for any biological woman to physically compete.

Just because you couldn't compete with your gender from birth you wanna go to the next and dominate? You notice how this is only male to females doing this lol.

I keep saying it would be amazing if we were 100% inclusive with sports for this reason. Let LeBron James transition then go into the WNBA and absolutely wreck everyone for a few years once hes in his 40s and retires from the NBA.

the better female by birth atheletes won. the others that were not born as female should have been in the race. I don't hate Trans people but they should not be in sports under their assumed gender. it's not physically fair. unless they go trans at a VERY young age. like this one person that is on the SUpergirl show. she would maybe be more fair in a race. but most trans people at least begin puberty with their native gender. and that gives them extra power even if they later transition

Taking this to its logical conclusion, you might as well be in favor of completely doing away with dividing sports by sex - a system where in the overwhelming majority of sports women would not even be able to sniff the finals, much less win a championship. What a fucking joke.

More testosterone, more musculature, better body structure, and even more I don't even know about. The division between men and women's divisions are there for a reason. Historically, the bottom tier men of the sport are able to beat the best women.

If the transgender athletes weren't packing all the top spots, then what's the big deal? Even then, what's the big deal?

I get that this guy's being a tosspot and doesn't even try to understand most of what's thrown at him, but:

These theoreticals do need to be answered with a consistent response. Sports are games, and games are a system of rules. There's no cherry picking: You need a general solution, in the logical argumentative sense. Science already knows the gender spectrum is real, but I honestly still haven't seen a real response to these hypotheticals.

Separating athletes by gender is sexism. They should just let everyone compete against each other.

It's all about what kinds of advantages the athletic society is willing to allow. We allow tall guys to dominate basketball because we find that acceptable. We don't allow 95lb boxers fight 225lbs ones because that community deems that too unfair.

I think most sensible people would say mtf trans athletes have too much of an advantage.

It can't be that much of an advantage, otherwise we'd have a lot more trans superstars.

It would be like if a top male high school tennis player was put in the women's pro league. He wouldn't win every match, would probably be dominated a time or two by the best of the best. But by virtue of being a man, he has a biological advantage and would beat a lot of the middling pro women. Would you call those fair matches?

As I understand it the vast majority of trans women athletes don't have overwhelming biological advantages over cis women athletes. So, in most cases it's like asking if it's fair for some men to have a biological advantage over other men.

I still have trouble finding substance on that. It's really hard to find good reports when they're all specifying some sort of specific metabolic catalyst for some protein or hormone or whatever. I'm too dumb to know what that's applying to.
