We've looked at 11 houses so far.

Is that a lot?

Yes. Depending on what you are looking for it can take a few years. Just don't give in. Once you're in the house you'll just know it's the one for you.

I just feel bad for our realtor. He's amazing. But I'm sure he's had people look at far more houses

I read it as "horse hunting".

Thought maybe that was an actual thing.

House Hunting is easy. They show you three houses. One is too expensive, one is everything you hate while being too small/big for you in the wrong part of town, and the last one is exactly what you asked for.

Spoiler Alert: You dont choose the one that is exactly what you asked for.

I've done it twice. First time I looked at 5 places before finding my condo. Second time I went to an open house on a whim and fell in love with the house. I then went to 3 other houses and didn't feel the same way so I bought it.

I still love my house.

It doesn't seem like it'd be that hard.

Like, you're gonna need a really big gun but they don't move around very much.

$250k in Nebraska? Damn, figured you'd be able to find just about what you want.

We probably looked at like 15-20 before deciding. There's always going to be an issue whether you like it or not, or whether you know about it upfront or not. Whatever crosses off the most and makes you happy go for it.

There's been a few that I would have been okay with buying but we're looking for something that'll be long term, 10+ years or so. Just couldn't see myself living in those ones that long.

This one was actually pretty sweet, they wanted 255k for it. It was just pretty far from our jobs. Also the kitchen was pretty small :/

Like the total payment with taxes/insurance?

For a house at 250k it'll be between 1700 and 1800 a month, taxes seem to vary a shitload in this price range.

I meant just the monthly mortgage. Not counting Homeowners Association or utilities.

Nice ass house, those open railings upstairs scare the shit out of me though with kids.

Unless it's a peaceful no traffic drive, a long commute really can and should be a deal breaker.

Damn, maybe I should move to Nebraska. I bought a house in Vancouver WA last year for $230K and it was half the size. Still not as bad as Portland, though...
