compared to witcher 3.

i think last year when 2077 i made an argument about quest linearity of witcher 3. my argument is basically story linearity vs gameplay linearity. in witcher 3 it make sense to have similar gameplay loop, even is the story and context is different with your choices, the gameplay boils down to tracking monster and fighting them, then several dialogue choices.

i argue that with the style of cyberpunk, they should make it more like deus ex, or dishonored, or similar immersive sim games where the choices should not be limited to context and story, but appear concretely as gameplay.

and tada, they addressed the thing in here:

I'm kind of interested, but I want to see gameplay. Not sure I trust CDPR to make good gameplay as I've yet to see it happen. Everything else they do is fine though

it's an RPG combat, so it would probably be stat based liker deus ex. it depend on your definition of "suck"

imo witcher 3 combat is fine, the problem is how enemies level works. witcher 3 enhanced edition solved that problem by making monster type = monster level, so you don't get level 50 nekker vs level 12 griffin

I'm a bit worried it's too broad of a game for them. Weren't we supposed to just be street level mooks and now the plot has us dealing with some serious shit?

I had enough trouble with Witcher 2, and that combat was basically "Are they a people? If yes use this sword if no use other sword also sometimes magic."
