I completely checked out of that series after the original. I thought that bringing Tommy Lee Jones back in 2 was a disappointingly lazy cop out, so I never had any interest in the sequels.

I don't really think that's all that controversial. The first movie is by far the most popular one. I thought 2 and 3 were good but they weren't really "must watch" movies.

Everyone agrees that 2 basically ruins K's arc in the first movie by bringing him back. MiB is one of those series that actually had the potential to be a big franchise and had the room to expand on its concept, but just got mismanaged a lot.
