20 y/o Ethan, who did not want to reveal his last name out of RETALIATION, pretended to be "Esther" on a dating app so he can catch PEDOPHILES..and he caught a 40 y/o COP!!

The San Fran Bay Area College Student used Snapchat's gender switch filter to pose as a 16 y/o and took down a 40 y/o cop named Robert Davies

The cop answered the profile with "Are you down to have some fun tonight?"

And Ethan said "I decided to take advantage of it" as he was motivated to take down pedophiles because of a female firend who told him she had been molested as a child

He said "I was just looking to get someone..He just happened to be a cop"

After moving the conversastion, he told Davies he was a 16 year old but the age didn't bother the cop and said they started texting there where it got explicit as they chatted for 12 HOURS!!

He told NBC "Through the messages, on purpose i would just get these little bits of information about him so it would be easier to track him down"

Detectives investigated Davies last month as officers from the Crimes Against Children dept busted him for contacting a minor to commit a felony

Sgt. Enrique Garcia said "Whether or not the person is 16 is irrelevant. If the suspect believes it's a 16 year old on the other end, the suspect should have terminated the conversation"

San Mateo Police Chief Susan Manheimer said "This alleged conduct, if true, is in no way a reflection of all that we stand for as a Department, and is an affront to the tenets of our dept"

The cop who is put on admin leave is recognzied for his LEADERSHIP as they posted pics of him with written congratulatory messages on twitter

Yet again it needs to be said, 16 does not equal pedophile. 16 is legal in half of America and legal in about 90% of the rest of the world. Little surprise people here are blowing this out of proportion.

I was thinking this. 16 is perfectly legal in Britain from what I've heard.
So is this reprehensible enough to ruin someone forever?
To those who say yes, do you condemn the country of Britain in regards to that?
Is it that big a deal?

I honestly don't know. My state has it at 17, and many places have it at 16.
17 doesn't seem bad to me, 16 getting a little weird...anything less...no...

Yeah the guy should've gone 14-15 to really nail him down as scum. What he's doing is wrong, but it's just close enough to the line that some people can argue for it. 15 would've gotten rid of that argument
