I should've seen the movie where Godzilla fights the three-headed monster instead.

This film was hella disjointed. <_<

Elton had a bad father

Elton loved a straight guy
MUSIC NUMBER
Elton did drugs
MUSIC NUMBER

It's like they cut out a third of the screenplay to allow for more music. Bohemian Rhapsody was waaay better.

Just cause someone succeeds, doesn't mean they have/had it easy.

Also hearing the actor cover all these iconic songs was pretty alright. And I'm too young to remember any of the concerts or performances he did when he was still touring, so that's kind of cool too.

Nah. Bohemian Rhapsody was leagues better. Bohemian Rhapsody might tell some lies, but it still tells a good story. Rocketman feels incomplete.

It's not terrible, but it's not great either.

Bohemian Rhapsody is getting a sequel exploring those years that are glossed over.

But just for comparison, both films bring up the fact that the musicians had to hide their sexuality from the press. Bohemian Rhapsody got into that with press scenes, the women he used as beards, etc. Rocketman makes a big deal about how the press will come sniffing for him and try to out him, but then we never see it.

It's almost like the movie is about the person instead of just refilming the events surrounding him

Okay, Bohemian Rhapsody lied about the dates. But Elton John actually skipped from childhood to adulthood over the course of singing Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, right? And everybody in the bar was either fighting or joining in with the song. That really happened.

If you want a 1:1 telling instead of a movie, read a biography, dude

I already defended the lies in Bohemian Rhapsody. I'm not looking for a prime time special feature. I'm just looking for a complete story. Rocketman was half-film, half-cover band.

I will say one positive about both films: both actors knocked it out of the park. You didn't see the actor, you saw the musician.

I'm sure the truth of Elton John's life is much more interesting than his film's story.
