For all of the money we are spending, NASA should NOT be talking about going to the Moon - We did that 50 years ago. They should be focused on the much bigger things we are doing, including Mars (of which the Moon is a part), Defense and Science!

The quickest and most effective way to get to Mars is a planet-wide wealth tax of some sort.

I agree.

Now only if any administration would actually support NASA by bringing their budget at least in line with where it was at in the mid 60's, when adjusted for inflation. I believe their budget should be 35 billion at least, but I would push for 40 or more. There was a time when we spent over 4% of our budget on NASA, now it is just about .5%.

Because, entitlements and military chew up nearly all the revenue, and then some. There's no social push to make a mars colony a "right", and everyone freaks the hell out at the of militarizing NASA.
