Are you guys (or other CE socialists) involved in any environmentalist movements? How do the two intersect? Most of the old school environmentalist groups hate nuclear, but I don't know if that's also true of the newer, DSA-style activists. I know AOC and the green new deal are anti-nuclear, is that also true generally?

I haven't really done anything directly with environmentalist movements, but I do know some people who have. I have had conversations about environmental issues within socialist circles, but nuclear energy was not something that came up.

I'm not anti-nuclear per se, but it's not a permanent solution to the climate crisis. it's non-renewable. it produces radioactive waste. and getting nuclear fuel in the first place requires a lot of electricity and work in hazardous conditions (similar to, to use two completely random examples, coal or natural gas). if I had to guess, I'd say that a lot of the leftist and environmental activist crowds fall into a similar train of thought, but I don't actually know

I would say that the left has been and still is far too squeamish about nuclear power. For example, AOCs framework is cold on it and I know Bernie is mildly opposed.
That said, I dont think its necessary to tackle the problem, but it could be very helpful in doing so. However, I dont think its just leftists that are a problem: voters in general are really not-in-my-backyard about nuclear plants. Chernobyl, Three Mile Island, and Fukushima are what comes to mind for many or most.
