People who complain about weapon durability in BotW are probably little babies who didn't play more than a couple hours.

I beat the game. It doesn't get any better. The problem isn't running out of weapons, the problem is that its annoying and shitty that you end up saving your good weapons for a harder fight/situation that never comes

The biggest problem is the balance in the end game. The enemy camps eventually become useless because you spend your weapons to get the same weapon as the prize, so you stop doing it. There's not a ton of use in farming the mini-boss mobs. It's really only an interesting mechanic the first 15 hours until you start to get good gear.

This. And it's okay to admit that you have a problem you know. Even though I'm on my third playthrough, I still have that problem despite repeatedly telling myself that I don't need to save anything.

First thing you need to get into your head when playing BoTW is this simple fact: No weapon is too precious.

I thought the weapon system was fine because the game was designed around it.

There was a pretty stable loop going on where shrines gave you weapons, weapons let you play the main story, and the main story put you in the oath of shrines.

Could have been improved though. Weapon crafting and repairs (they already have cooking) would have gone a long way.

My biggest criticism of the game is that shrines got old kind of fast. They were all thematically the same.

They could have had similar challenges sprinkled around in the landscapes of the world. On hilltops, in caves, by rock walls, etc. It would have been better than hundreds of shrines that all look the same on the inside.

I used the upgraded MS as my main weapon, and kept powerful two handers in stock for Lynels

The biggest issue I had was keeping bows in stock, because I love sniping dudes. Fortunately by endgame I had so many guardian parts that I could keep three ancient bows in stock, along with a couple golden bows for zoom (mostly just for korok puzzles)

people complain about the weapon system in BotW too much. it sucks, but you get used to it pretty quickly and it's not that big of a deal (esp later in the game), yet so many ppl act like it completely ruins the game for them. to me its like having to go into your briefcase in RE4 to switch guns

It did cause me to drop the game. I dunno, it just wasn't a compelling mechanic and I have other games to play.

I guess that makes me a baby, w/e

It's not even that big of a deal. It's kind of lame at first, but the annoyance goes away once you realize the frequency that you get weapons. You get used to it.

Just because you can get used to it, doesn't mean it's good. There was plenty of room for improvement. It's not a game breaker, but it is an annoyance.

There should have been a way to repair weapons plain and simple.

When you have any level of OCD and really like the style and/or aesthetic of particular weapons you just look at them in your inventory as opposed to enjoying them because you know every time you use the weapon it's one swing closer to breaking.

If they wanted weapons to break if you spam them and don;t take care of them that's fine. But they should have had a repair function so you could swap out your fav weapons before breaking them. Added risk along with some accountability for managing weapon quality would have worked just fine.

Exactly. If you have a conservative bone in your body you will spam bombs to save your consumables.

Conflict posted...
I played this game for a little bit after owning it for a year and not really doing anything and my first impressions haven't been positive

Like, perhaps the game could be fun, but it's not looking like a good 'Zelda game'. Like basically what everyone has been saying

I'm not even a fan of the ambience in a series that's well known for having blockbuster music

As much as I love BotW, some say--and I somewhat agree--that it would have been better served as its own original IP, completely separate from the Zelda fold.

But of course, the game wouldn't have done anywhere near as well as it did if it were original.
