When it comes to teachers, they each have their own way of doing things - from lesson planning to disciplining. Their methods for marking work can also vary greatly.

One teacher might use memes to grade papers, while another will love to give out gold stars.

But one employee from Rutherford High School in Panama City, Florida was just brutally honest when it came to marking one of her student's pieces of science homework.

The teacher gave the student no credit and bluntly asked "WTF is this?"

Understandably the student's mother was not impressed by the teacher's use of profanity.

Melinda Smith spoke to local news station WJHG about the incident and branded it "not acceptable".

She said: "Just seeing WTF what is this, you know, basically... it wasn't anything about not getting the credit, it was more so the language about what they're writing to a student, that was very inappropriate and not acceptable for a teacher whatsoever."

The mum has since called for the teacher to be punished for her actions.

She continued: "I think for sure she needs to be reprimanded. I believe that something should be placed in her file."

Coy Pilson, the principal of the school said that the district officials and the school's HR department are investigating the incident and will take the necessary steps to resolve it.

Pilson told Yahoo Lifestyle that the teacher in question, who has not been named, was "distraught" over the incident and accepts it was her "mistake".

He added: "We make mistakes, but we understand that we are called to a high professional standard. And when we make mistakes, we try to correct those mistakes and move forward. "

The mom is clearly angry, what do you think you would do if you were her?
How would you feel if your child got his report on his homework?

I can't comment on this because sadly I'm old enough that when I was in school, teachers cursed all the time and no one cared. So I'm biased to a fault.

The argument is teachers are supposed to be held to a higher standard than "people"

Same way no one cares if Bob starts ranting about how much he hates immigrants at the bar but if a cop or a doctor or a judge does the same, it becomes problematic

All they should do is tell her not to do it again--- as if she would anyway--- and move on.

Be more concerned that your kid isn't grasping the concept enough to get literally one bit of credit for "work" they turned in to be graded.

And if a teacher puts out some bullshit, they should be called out too. It's an unprofessional/stupid mistake the teacher should never have done. If she wanted to say something like that, do NOT put it in writing. Talk to the student after class. That's like education 101 type stuff.

I have thay thought every time I grade papers on at least 1 or 2 submissions.

Writing it out is a tad unprofessional but the parents are being over sensitive

How are they being overly sensitive? The mother accepted that their child isn't getting the credit and they didn't seem to have a problem with it. The issue is the language being used and that the teacher should be reprimanded (not fired). You even admitted it's a tad unprofessional.

Imagine being the parent of this child, and rather than go seeing the teacher, or principal in private to discuss the matter, you contact the local news station, and basically let the whole country know your child is a dumbass.

There is no proof of who contacted who or what or when first. The article only says that the parent spoke to the news station and that's it. And it didn't say that the parent/school didn't meet in private. So anything other than the facts (student turns in a paper, teacher writes "WTF....", and the mother wants the teacher reprimanded) is not up for discussion.

Oh wow. An Admiral post I agree with 100%.

It's an acronym. It doesn't matter if the F stands for fuck. If the teacher didn't actually write out the word "fuck," it's not profanity. Either fake outrage or stupid misplaced outrage on the part of the parent.

Also, I can't tell from the pic what the duck the student even submitted so the teacher's statement seems like a normal reaction >_>

I mean it isn't the most professional but it hardly seems like something to be fired over.

I also like how we don't get to see the actual work performed. I'm guessing because it would quickly turn sympathies back to the teacher.
