The only mission so far i dont get A the first time is the one with the fake tanks, and the siegval line battle 1.

But other than that the game isn't too challenging. The gameplay is great, i enjoy it very much like 1, but enemy behavior is especially really bad. They are like drunk idiots. They mostly are just stationery, and waste their turn AP. Like in a turn, they would just move 1 or 2 soldiers, then skipped turn with 4 to 5 AP Left. Other than that most enemy units just sit there, and intercept in our turn.

Otherwise fun game, i like it more than valkyra chronicles 1. The characters are especially miles miles better imo.

Ironically, the squad stories are the more challenging levels IMO. It is because of limited rosters and no leader unit for extra AP and teaming up which is pretty OP Too

I never got very far, but I thought the game got hard really quickly. I gave up, partly because I was struggling so much.

Have you played the series a lot, then? Or am I just a really bad gamer at whatever genre that "game" is meant to be?

Not really. Mortars do a pretty good job of breaking the game, though I still love using them. There are some maps that are a challenge to A rank though. The optional skirmish maps supposedly get really tough too, but I haven't tried them myself yet.

VC4 is definitely harder in the start than the first game. You should go back and play VC1 before playing VC4. VC2 sucks and VC3 never got an English release so you can skip those. If you don't like the gameplay at all though, maybe it's just not the series for you.

How far did you get. Ziegval line 1 is prettt good because you can't advance just like that cos there are alot of pillboxes and turrets. Otherwise, i dont find if too hard yet.

As for if i am good with the game, o guess experiencem i play alot of turn based tactics game like X-com, divinity original sin, and other countless games. Some of them are downright brutal like age of decadence. I played original sin in the second hardest difficulty too. It was really challenging.

After years, and dozens of games, you get used to it. There are variety between games of course, but you get used to it and understand the system, exploit it for your advantage.

Nice. I am on chapter 5, which like maybe 15% of the game (including skirmishes and squad story) . I remember VC 1 dont get hard till the bosses show up too.

Xcom and Divinity are great turn based series! I beat Divinity 1 with my friend but we didn't play on hard. It was still pretty tough until the last part of the game where you can just meteor/hail storm everything. The final boss was pathetically easy, but overall we had a blast with the game.

Now we're playing Divinity 2, and we actually prefer the new physical and magical armor system. I can see why some players don't like it, but we knew about it before we planned our party, so we were prepared. The story is also much more interesting.

I dislike the armor system. It makes resistance a jokem deplete their armor and you turn people into chicken all the time.

Also the same with all other status effects. You just play deplete the armor then blast them with status effect.

The armor bar is not that bad really, but status effect resistance should not be a hard immunity when the armor is still active. It should scale proportionally with the remaining HP of the armor.

This is a series where you use enviromental damage to your advantage, giving status effect and other stuff. The armor/resistance system reduce that compared to DOS 1

I've completed the game a few days ago. It gets harder for sure, I'd say at chapter 7. Though it's still pretty easy to do most missions in a single turn once you know the layout and enemy placement.
It only ever truly gets hard once you unlock the Hard/Challenge skirmishes.
I still got the Two Valkyria and Expert skirmishes DLCs to complete.

This. The most challenging it gets is "mildly annoying."

i really think the biggest problem is enemy behavior/ they just sit there and do nothing while i slaugther their soldier. the AI should be more aggresive.

i haven't played valkyria chronicles 4 yet

valkyria chronicles 1 was also easy. i also didnt like how it was optimal to use 1-3 units top every mission rather than your entire forces. and after a certain point Alicia was absurdly OP and could wipe out the entire enemy army solo if you used a couple orders on her and had enough moves left

Yeah they kinda fixed that a bit now. It's much better to have more units on the field - one or two for base defense, a sniper and grenadier or two to deal with specific enemies, a bunch of Lancers can chain attack along with your tanks, direct commands, multiple routes that you need to take to allow the other squad easier passage through the map and so on.
