Agreed.

But I really liked the village and learning new sword techs for some reason.

I honestly don't understand the complaints about SS.
All but the first and BoTW games are extremely linear
The controls are fine and long as you aren't waggling around
Fi really only bugs you if you hit the button that is designed to bring her up

The only real complaint that I agree with is the sky is barren

Slow start. Barren overworld. Limited environment variety. Effectively a single city. The Imprisoned. Controls that required more precision then the controllers often allowed for. Linear even by Zelda standards. Fi. The Imprisoned. The lightball collecting segments.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate the game and I 100% it, but I totally understand why someone would dislike it. And it's definitely the weakest of the main console Zelda games.

The sky is kind of barren. Same goes for the sea in WW. I would say that SS is the weakest in the music department by far. I liked the light collecting segments. They did a better job with that than they did in TP. And the controls were much more polished than they were in the Wii TP. It was a long game and no more linear than the other console Zeldas, minus the first and BotW, which was already stated.

Skyward Sword is probably the game I tried the absolute hardest to like to no avail.

World was dull. Controls were wrong just often enough to be nearly a constant annoyance or concern. Everyone had a punchable face. Repetitive as hell and constantly held your hand.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

I also liked that basically all the enemies required a unique way to kill them, like having to swing your sword a specific way or do different moves in different orders, etc.. I would have liked enemies like that in BotW...maybe a nice mix of others in there too that just simply require you to hit them in any way.

A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time is the peak of Zelda for me. You can extend it a bit to include Oracle of Ages & Seasons and Wind Waker. Haven't played Majora's Mask through to the end.

The series gets worse as it strayed more into gimmicks and sidequesting.

It was good for an origin story, but it would've been so much better had the surface been open-world and interconnected. And maybe allowed some more time travel to the past in all main areas of the game instead of just the desert, to see what the land was like with humans around.

The first Zelda is actually really good and it holds up nicely. I played that on the 4 in 1 disc for the Game Cube. I never did the 2nd quest however.

Zelda 2 is interesting but not my favourite Zelda experience.

LTTP feels like the perfect balance of classic Zelda and the path the series would eventually take. Also doesn't hurt that it was the first one I played at the age of 5.

I guess the moral of my Zelda experiences are: everything after my teenage years can take a hike. I also haven't played anything beyond Twilight Princess on console and Oracle on portable, sooooo I am an ass.
