The acknowledgement comes as senior representatives of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) privately told Daily Star Online they believe the porn block law could be delayed. Earlier this month, this publication revealed Mozilla Firefox is thought to be pushing ahead with the roll out DNS encryption, despite government "concerns" they and ISPs will be unable to see what website we are looking at and block them. Speaking at the Internet Service Providers Association's Annual Conference last week, Mark Hoe, from the governments National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), said they would not be "able to block" websites that violate the porn block and enforce the new law. He said: The age verification measures although those are not directly affected [by DNS encryption] it does effect enforcement of access to non-compliant websites.

However, the Prime Minister promised to resign last week and there will be a new Prime Minister when the law comes in. Mark from the NCSC also said: We are seeing some positive noises from the providers of the browsers". He said the browsers were responding to legitimate concerns" after the Daily Star reported Google Chrome was thought to have changed its stance on the roll out DNS. However, industry insiders still think Firefox will press ahead, potentially leading to people who want to avoid the ban switching to their browser. It has also been reported that the rollout of encryption could make it harder for the government and ISPs to block terror and child abuse content, endangering users. Adam Kinsley, Director of Policy at BSkyB, said; If [encryption] is implemented with insufficient regard to unintended consequences, and this led to unlimited access to harmful content, then that could be problematic. DNS encryption was problematic for the government and its plans to restrict porn, said Mr Kinsley. He suggested new laws might be brought in to influence Internet browser firms like Mozilla while the NCSC spokesman said DNS firms might be forced in future to block websites the government wants to be banned.

lmao. There was always going to be ways around their ban.

If they understood anything about technology and/or the internet, they would have known they wouldn't be able to enforce something like this from the beginning.
