He already had neurological and physical issues because of Parkinson's, but he broke his hip last December on the 25th at like 3 in the morning and it basically ruined him. He hasn't recovered physically and what they thought was a temporary issue because of medication turned into a permanent dementia. He has better days and worse days, but he regularly forgets what year it is and who his daughters are, pees himself, can't really feed himself, etc

No real point to this topic, she's just out of town with her family and they had to take her dad to the hospital because he became non-functional while they were at her nieces graduation, so I'm venting here I guess

Thats rough man. My grandfather got Alzheimers and the end was real real rough and scary. I have to be honest tho the beginning part was kinda nice he used to be a complete hard ass jerk but during the beginning stages he turned into this gleeful kid of himself that wanted to play Nintendo with me all the time. But the end was bad real bad he would be talking and then just go hazy eyed and not know who I was where he was and hed get violent and want to go drive away.

man, it's really just like a switch flipped. his Parkinson's before was mostly a physical thing, having problems with manipulating small digits and walking straight. That's what led to his fall. But mentally, he was more or less fine, I'd say perfectly fine but that's obviously hyperbolic. But in comparison to how he is now, it's totally night and day

Man, that is so hard. I had a boss who broke down and cried every time she thought of her father who had Parkinson's. He was constantly having really bad hallucinations, made even worse because the mom, my boss, and her siblings were all fighting over him and his care.

yeah the hallucinations are tough :(
