Puzzles are fun but if they are too hard I don't want to bother
It isn't like action games where I can just git gud, in puzzles I can't git smurt

There are a couple levels that I have to step away from and come back later. Part of the reason I am enjoying the game is that it actually challenges me with its puzzles

I think Baba Is You is like a 4 out of 5 puzzle game - there tends to be a limited number of things you can do in any puzzle and the more you play around with things the more you realize what you can do. I've beaten all but about 20 or so of the game's puzzles now with limited walkthrough help (I did have to a couple of times because for reasons that ended up being pretty understandable on levels that were blocking the entire rest of the game being open to me), it did take a while but eventually I made breakthroughs.

The hardest puzzle games I've ever played are Snakebird and an old puzzle game on the mac called The Fool's Errand. Those are 5 out of 5 puzzle games.

I actually beat Snakebird. I managed to only beat no more than three puzzles in Stephen's Sausage Roll.

I haven't played Stephen's Sausage Roll but it looks incredibly hard

Oh yeah, I've heard of Snakebird and Stephen's Sausage Roll, but I've never played either. Something about the gameplay that I saw didn't quite appeal to me.

I think part of the difficulty is that there's a lot the game doesn't tell you in terms of how certain interactions work. There's a limited amount of things you can do sometimes, but sometimes it's not explicitly clear what all of those things are.

Oh god Stephens Sausage Roll

There was a puzzle in a puzzle hunt I did that required you to figure out not just how to solve SSR puzzles, but to figure out the minimum possible number of moves. I couldnt even figure out the mechanics.

Animal Puzzle Adventure remains the hardest one for me

Having cleared Snakebird with looking up partial solutions twice (First bonus stage and final stage) Stephen's made me say fuck this at The Tower and I still haven't gone back.

I also played a custom minesweeper game the other day made in unity

Chaotic thing about it was the mine count was always fixed but the grid size actually varied by resolution, so I discovered it was extra hard when I played it.

Stage 1 had 77 mines and I only had a 15x20ish grid (it was meant to be about 20x32). Tried it several times and had to blindly guess at least a couple of times each time before giving up.

Some puzzle games are designed to make you feel brilliant at regular intervals -- the Portal devs talk about chasing these moments. I think Baba is You doesn't care as much how you feel, it just wants to introduce some cool mechanics and then wring every possible interaction out of them. It's sort of the complete expression of an idea. Finding an out-of-the box solution usually left me feeling less clever and more awestruck by the design. Stephen's Sausage Roll gave me the same feeling.

Yeah Baba is You eventually gets to a point where a second person who hasn't played is doing you no good whatsoever because the goals are so far removed from typical puzzle game solving

like (solution spoiler)going back to a previously solved level to make Level Is Flag so that you can win the next level with Level Near Flag Is Win is something that a bystander could literally never solve
