Yeah the anti-grinding ones are the big ones. More money and more XP. I wish those options were available from the start. Playing P5 on easy made a big difference too (was able to max all social links in 80 hours. Seemed like most others took 100 hours to do the same on normal).

Been reading the Tsurezure Children manga. It's pretty great! Biggest problem is how similar the character designs are. Telling people apart is way harder than it was in the anime.

Yeah, that was one of my biggest complaints, too, especially considering how large the cast is. The guys in particular are nearly impossible to distinguish except for a few.

Dragon Ball Episode 18 complete

On this episode, we see the precursor to Persona as Goku and Krillin spend all day in school and working part-time jobs. Also, I'm always fascinated to see how dubs handle the Japanese tradition of giving thanks before meals.

I finished Yukiko's dungeon last night. It's nice being able to blow through these dungeons with NG+ equipment and EXP boost and finish at like level 15.

I knew when I started Pillars of Eternity II there was no way I'd finish before CS2 came out but having played for a while... I was in what I assume to be the main city of the game for like 15 hours (if this somehow wasn't the main/biggest city rip i'm not sure i'd finish before cs3 tbqh) gonna have to heavily revise even that. But then I left and started sailing my boat around the world map and... oh my god it's so big rip not sure i'll finish before cs3.

Speaking of, got into ~naval combat~ and after my first attempt went... poorly (i had no idea what i was doing) some trial and error got me to mostly understand it I think and like two ship battles later and I'm trying to land on an island to explore and some pirate scrub makes a beeline for me and engages and i'm like "yo put some respect on my name" and wreck him even though my crew hadn't finished repairs from my last fight.

this is a fun game

Well, I probably won't finish P4G before CS2 gets here either, but at least it's on Vita so I can play it on the side during moments when playing CS2 isn't viable.

My girlfriend's birthday is also the same day as CS2's release date. The pressure.

Since I've already maxed all my S. Links before, there's no pressure to try to squeeze them all in on a single playthrough this time around. I think I'll mostly focus on doing the party members' ones first because of the extra benefits they provide (as well as Marie's and Adachi's to make sure I get all the necessary bonus content), and then I need to focus on reading books at night as much as possible since that's the one thing I need.

I did an initial run through the timeline for all 5 available characters. I tried to make the choices I thought would open up the right paths for other characters, but I'll wait until tomorrow to go back and start redoing those routes.

The game definitely has me more intrigued by what it's shown me than it did during the tutorial portion, but that makes sense. The tutorial is just teaching you the basics and doesn't get too complicated. This basically feels like a CYOA book. I loved those things as a kid, but I always made the wrong choices. Good thing that you can always go back and do it over again until you get it right!

It basically is a CYOA, except the way the paths interact is pretty cool. The way the choices in one character's path affects another's are often pretty ridiculous.

Yeah, I have definitely noticed that, especially in what triggers a bad ending. That's what makes it kind of tricky, but at least they make it really easy to go back and change your choice. It does seem like it'll get more complex the more characters you have though.

Just finished the 1:00 block in 428. That was a heck of a plot twist at the end of Tama's route there. It does cause a lot of other things going on in other routes to start to make more sense though.

They're also making the routes gradually more complicated to complete. I was actually able to get to a "To Be Continued" despite taking a route that blocked off somebody else, so I had to go back and fix it.

I can definitely already say that if you're a VN fan, this is worth a shot because it's a unique experience.

Okay, I finished Tsurezure Children.

Mostly great stuff overall! But I'm not sure if I'd say I like it better than the anime. Some of the couples in the manga that weren't in the anime were really great. The couple that never smiled was amazing, and I really liked the rock band couple too. But some were not so great. The teacher and the student was bad - not just in concept, but also because I didn't like either character. And I felt like there were a few couples where one character was interesting and the other character was almost a blank slate. Many of the manga-exclusive couples were right in the middle - not great, but not bad. Patty and Keisuke was cute at times, but the sushi thing was dumb after the first chapter, and their relationship felt very repetitive. A few of the relationships suffered from the repetition, honestly (which kinda made the anime better, since it was shorter). Some thoughts:

For Yuki Minagawa, I liked her parts with her boyfriend's sister more than the stuff with her boyfriend. Her developing relationship with the sister was awesome.

Ryouko Kaji's developing friendships were excellent too. Loved her stuff with Erika Shibasaki.

Astronomy Club was a little better in the manga than the anime (they should've just cut it from the anime), but not particularly exceptional.

Yamane (frog guy) x Kurihara got a little less interesting later on. Kurihara was almost a complete blank slate in the later chapters.

Other nerd guy got a bit less interesting too, but I liked his facial expressions.

Karate club was kinda cute at times, but I always hate the 'my boyfriend must be strong' cliche. Was good when it wasn't focusing on that.

Ayaka Kamine x Takeru Gouda was consistently good through the whole series. Felt like the rock the series was based on.

Super tsundere glasses x no personality man was pretty eh. I wish he had a personality.

Fat girl x chubby chaser was pretty good early on, but way too drawn out. Would've been fun if she got chubbier throughout the series.

Chiaki x Kana (comedy duo) was awesome throughout. Felt like there was consistent real development and a lot of variety. Chiaki's mom is also one of the funniest characters in the series.

Takano x Sugawara was good until the end, but the slowness of their relationship was painful.

No smile duo was both cute and hilarious. Probably the funniest couple.

Miss Wabisabi's character development through the series was real good too.

Kanda x Takase was mediocre. Their first chapter is incredible, and is also amazing in the anime, and then there's... nothing.

Alice's first chapter where she's super yandere was my favorite, though I liked her in general. Was cool how she was both perceptive and good at distorting reality. I couldn't really cheer on the guy who liked her, but her own development through her interaction with him was quite good.

Love Master x Kitten felt like the anime basically gave us all we needed there. The later chapters with them weren't interesting.

Rapper was mostly good, though the romance parts were kinda undercooked.

Drama girls were weird. Felt like they were going somewhere romantic, then they didn't really at the end? Maybe the author wanted to try lesbians then changed his mind or something. Series probably would've been better without them, though their chapters were alright.

But yeah, cool series in general. The last volume felt pretty nice with all the climaxes!

Yep, second best couple after Takano/Sugawara. Can't believe the anime edited them out (except for a really brief cameo in one scene). I mostly agree with your assessments. Nothing really sticks out that I'd disagree hard with at any rate.
