Fucking chills

Also why the fuck was the Gandalf vs Witch King scene not in the theatrical release? Of all the scenes they cut, that one didn't stay in? It made the arrival of the Rohirrim so much more amazing.

Same, bro. God-tier films. Jackson did Tolkien justice.

I think the siege of Jerusalem scene in Kingdom of Heaven director's cut comes close. It doesn't have the epic-ness of being saved nor the score to enhance it like LoTR did, but the way Ridley Scott directed the battle was good.

That battle would be the best battle ever if the fucking ghosts were mortal. But it takes almost all the tension out of it when they can literally just keep killing everything. yeah, sure, the heroes could all die, too.

I mean, this is a close 2nd now, but *endgame spoilers* final scene, "Avengers, Assemble!" and all of the "dead" superheroes all come through the portals at once, idk if that can be topped for me.

It may have been too corny, but i wish they included the Rohirrim singing while they were fighting. The line "They sang as they slew" was so badass in the book, but it may not have translated to film.

And then all the host of Rohan burst into song, and they sang as they slew, for the joy of battle was on them, and the sound of their singing that was fair and terrible came even to the City.

So lame. It felt like a lazy cop out too. They could have taken out unnecessary scenes that didn't happen in the books and add in the Grey Company and properly do the scenes right, but nope.

Yeah this is top tier stuff.

Realistically speaking they did everything about as good as possible given the nature of the film industry. Peter Jackson and his crew truly accomplished something great. I am sure there are thing that couldve been done better but man its truely incrediblewha went into this.

A more faithful to the book adaptation simply could not have worked for myriad reasons. Similar reasons to how Game of Thrones even with vastly more time and overall a larger budget over time still had to excise/after a vast amount of content even before running out of books to adapt.

It takes a lot more overall collective time, money, manpower, transportation, legal work, logistics, and talent to create a large scale visual work than a large scale written work.

The hobbit movies are quite sad in comparison. There was a lot of behind the scenes legal/corporate bullshit that happened that hamstringed those movies. Frankly its a Miracle they werent a straight up disaster.

Still enjoyable and they do have some really great moments but just doesnt nail that same feel. It feels less real(too much greenscreen/CGI not enough practical effects), and more like it was hitting some focus group/corporate checklists. Not enough action. Needs a strong female love interest. Needs more Legolas. Lets make it a Trilogy for $$$
