Water resistance helps a lot for fast submergence, ie swimming

Yes I mean let me know next time you are swimming 600m deep. My phone does that too.

No_U_L7 posted...
And go ahead and ignore the practicality of tracking multiple timezones while traveling lol

Oh I just didn't feel the need to address it considering my phone (and brain) do the same thing.

Adding up to 12 is not hard. I just assumed that was a given considering the circumstances, but if you really needed $1000 to do that then I can't stop you.

No but much like a watch, sometimes you forget you have it on you. The concept of jumping into a pool forgetting there's a phone in your pocket or forgetting you're wearing a watch is that foreign to you?

Again, like I said, if that $1000 helps make counting up to 12 a little easier, than I can't change your mind.

Update to the story: i refused to pay the import duties and told the delivery service it was excessive. they showed me the paperwork. I told them to classify it as an "automatic watch" instead of as "general jewelry". They refused unless i did the work for them and told them the proper code. I took a few hours, dug into the thousands of pages of import manuals and found the right code. Drops the import duty from 11% to 4.2%. They made me fill out excessive paperwork and they are processing it now. Looks like I wouldn't get my watch this wknd. Also emailed the watch company to tell them they fucked up. They said "duties are not our responsibility" and I told them it was their responsibility to make sure their exports were properly classified. I asked to speak to the manager who replied that he will have his head of logistics look into it and that i was right about the improper classification.

tl;dr, always question authority

I mean, is it their fault? You're the one who brought it back through customs, I feel like the customs agent should've been like "ok this is a watch, not jewelry" when you declared it.

yea. custom lightsabers go through customs and pay the import fee too. so thats about the price range of your watch.

many collectors complain about it. some customers tell the company or person to label it differently. it changes the insurance and customers often get the insurance and stuff. it sometimes works. the package often gets searched due to its nature.

lol you really think the manager gives a shit even if he did report the problem to the head of logistics the head of logistics isn't going to give 2 shits all they do is sit at their desk and waste time probably can't even respond to e-mails that's your typical 9-5er.

not even factoring in the legalities, you would be more specific because you're otherwise screwing over your customer on the other end, when customer relations is a big part of business. i talked directly to the co-founder btw and he agreed, he's having his head of logistics look into it

You order a watch, you get a watch. If you don't, then call and fix it like you've done.

i understand the complaints but their logo doesn't bother me, although i did prefer the old one. my new model does have a "ghost logo" at 12 (look closely): https://imgur.com/fnd4HdL

my understanding is when you're getting to 600m water resistance, it becomes harder to have an exhibition caseback (although my steinhart has exhibition caseback and gets to 500m). either way, although i much prefer the exhibition caseback, solid case back isn't a dealbreaker since i'm usually wearing the watch. i've probably shown people the exhibition caseback a handful of times so it's nice to have on hand, especially when explaining what an automatic watch is to someone. but if i like the watch enough it's not a dealbreaker

Material goods such as things debately arent even worth it for luxury unlike houses rings, or cars. Where even the average person can distinguish and understand their values.

the difference is in the construction, the type of crystal used, the type of anti reflective coating, the type of lume, etc.

yeah, the valjoux is used in a lot of hamiltons, mostly chronographs. i looked into it when i was thinking of getting one but my smaller wrists wouldn't allow it lol

the sellita is just a modified ETA 2824. solid, dependable, nice sweeping seconds hand. don't like that it only gets up to 38 hours power reserve. my ETA 2893 gets up to 42. Hamilton modified it to get up to 80 hour power reserve (but with a less smooth seconds hand)
