Are there any luxury watches with actual numbers? I've always struggled with reading needle watches

you mean the indices? lol. yeah, i get it, but it makes the dial look more clean/sleek. but fyi there technically are numbers on the exterior bezel (that tells the time in military time)

the hamilton khaki series is known for their numbers: https://cloudfront.dappered.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/hamilton-field-500-khaki.jpg

For starters, that's user error.

Secondly, I'd say if someone caught you looking at your watch, that'd be a worse look than checking your phone. For all we know, you got an important email that needs to be addressed, whereas looking at your watch, they know for a fact you're just looking at the time and assume you're bored.

people don't care if you check for the time, everyone wants to make sure there's enough time left to finish the meeting, they're on time for their next meeting, etc. the issue is that when you check your phone people (especially those older people) view it as as sign of disrespect, that you're replying to texts, etc

Yes but a phone also allows you to make calls, send texts, browse the web, play music, watch videos, play games, and engage in a myriad of other things we call "applications."

Does your wristwatch somehow do that?

There's a difference between "replying to emails/texts" vs. "glancing at your phone quickly." Unless you're staring at your phone for anything more than one second, nobody will assume you're doing anything but checking the time. You act like it takes more than a quick motion and glance down to check your phone, which you can actually do below the table, vs. glancing at your watch above the table which people are sure to catch.

why does it need to...it's a watch. i'd rather glance at my wrist to ascertain the time than take a pocket watch out of my pocket, which requires much more effort

So for you, it's less about the "logic" and more driven by emotion?

ive stated it explicitly multiple times itt...it's about understanding and appreciation of the details. a well made watch is an engineering marvel, just like a well made car

i feel the same about a good wool blazer, goodyear welted shoes, etc

Sure because a good wool blazer is extra insulated and welted shoes keep longer and shine better.

A watch just tells time.

Correction, mine tells time in 2 timezones and has 600 m of water resistance

Ok be sure to @ me next time you are in 600m of water

Water resistance helps a lot for fast submergence, ie swimming. And go ahead and ignore the practicality of tracking multiple timezones while traveling lol
