You're honestly a gone cat yourself if the Mad Queen outcome didn't become obvious after Arya knifed the NK. At the very least, Cersei was never fit to be the final boss of this story, no matter how many contrived leg-ups the show gave her to keep her in the game.

It's okay to dislike the show, it's not okay to ignore the story telling because you weren't paying attention.

Dude, stop it. This season is awful. Martin is probably furious.

You have been ignoring subtext and the character actions because you made Dany into some messiah like figure. The season has its faults, but this is not one of them.

I'm pretty confident that Bronn is gonna take his miniature cross bow and bring down Drogon. He missed his chance the first time. Now he will get a second chance with an even smaller bow. He's gonna save Tyrion once again when the Mad Queen tries to execute him for betraying her. That is why Drogon went on a rampage. They're building the moment up so we can all be like, "OMFG BRONN KILLED DROGON WITH A TINY ASS BOW." And at that point no one will care as much either because she just used Drogon to kill millions of innocent people. Dany might die too. Then perhaps Jon will take the throne.

Not really. It goes against everything Dany has been building for the past 7 seasons and 5 books.

do you watch the show or what

Yep. Huge fan of the show and the books.

Season 7 Dany: I don't want to be the queen of ashes.

Season 8 Dany: I'll burn them all.

It's ridiculous.

Yeah, for the TV show this is such lazy writing to 180 that quickly.

My guess is the writer of the book told them this is how the book is going to end, so maybe the book would have made her madness more gradual than a flip like what happened here

No, I haven't. It doesn't make sense, that's the problem. I've read all the books and watched all the seasons multiple times. Dany is not stupid, neither is Jon or Tyrion. Jamie's arc from the whole series got obliterated in one episode.

Dany is a more fit ruler than Jon because she is willing to protect the innocent but not willing to let bad deeds go unpunished--that was Dany. They threw all that away for plot armor and shock value.

Even recent interviews with the actors describe how disappointing the final episodes are.

???????????????????????????????????????

Taking a city in Pentos is not the same to her as taking the Iron Throne. She literally said last season, "I don't want to be the queen of ashes."

Now, she did exactly that. They destroyed Jamie's arc. Cersei's death was terrible. Tyrion betraying Varys, a close friend and confidant, was also ridiculous as well as having everyone hide in the crypt during the winter battle.

The whole episode was bad. The whole season has been bad.

-Jaime did what he has always done which is prioritize Cersei. Thats what he did the entire series.
-Cerseis death was lackluster. If Arya had killed her though people would have cried this is fanservice bullshit
-Varys left Tyrion no option. Not only did he betray Dany but he was dumb enough to get Jon involved. Had Tyrion not told Daenerys right then and there he would have died. Tyrion covered his own ass which seemed like a pretty Tyrion thing to do IMO. Varys would have done the same thing.

I dont think its been bad at all.

There were signs pointing this ending/Examples of Dany being merciless:

-Mad King/Targaryen lineage.
-Season 2 vision of the throne room which has been destroyed possibly by fire with Daenerys walking through it.
-Season 2 threatens to burn down Qarth once her dragons are grown.
-Season 4 has Daario Naharis kill all the masters of Yunkai.
-Season 5 cruficies the noble men of Mereen.
-Season 1 or 2 the witch predicts her son will set the world on fire.
-Jon Snow lineage meant her claim to the throne wasnt valid. They couldnt coexist after that.
-Season 6 or 7 killed men of the Tarley family even after Tyrion begged her not to.

I dont get where this idea Daenerys is always merciful came from but its not true. She has done plenty of unnecessary killing throughout the show. The death of her close friends as well as the rejection from Jon Snow just pushed her off the deep end.

She literally said last season, "I don't want to be the queen of ashes."

She was quoting Tyrion (I think; it was one of her advisers), signaling that she was going to do things his way--but she secretly wanted to destroy King's Landing all along. She wanted revenge--did nobody notice the parallel between Dany and The Hound? Literally, The Hound didn't have to fight the Mountain. As he said about Cersei, the flames would take care of it, or the dragon, etc. etc.

But Sandor had to kill Gregor himself. It was about the vengeance.

Dany has lost much, and most of it was because of King's Landing and the people who lived there--especially the keep. Cersei betrayed trust and refused to help fight the Night King, which cost Jorah and a huge amount of Dany's loyal followers/soldiers their lives. She lost her dragon, she lost Missandei, she lost Jorah, she lost her brothers, she lost her father, and seeing the Red Keep standing triumphantly triggered her deepest sense of vengeance.

She said "fuck this, I'm the queen; if people don't love me, they'll fear me" and off she went.

I would say her fatal flaw was always wrath. Several good characters throughout the series sentence others to death, but it's usually with a humane beheading. Dany always did it with fire, crucifixion, locking people in a vault to starve to death, etc., which are not painless ways to go.

It's fine if people think that the show didn't lead into her heel-turn very well these past few seasons, but to argue this is completely out of left field is laughable.

I don't think anyone has issue with her turning into the mad queen, just the way it was handled. If they had actually built up to it more instead of what seems a very sudden flip, then it wouldn't be so bad.

The destroying of several other characters personalities doesn't help either and likely means people are even less inclined to give any leeway with it.

By the end of last episode, she wanted a bloodbath regardless of what the other side did. At this point, she considered the commoners guilty of inaction, since they didn't hand over the city immediately like in Essos and got two of her dragons and several important members of her court killed.

Either way though, even if she did accept the surrender, people would've been disappointed about a lackluster capture of King's Landing. People would be complaining regardless, because there's nothing the show can do to win them back at this point.
