As we've had topics about, there are a LOT of questionable things in original FF7 that we're wondering if will be in the remake. Eventually I was old enough to be trusted not to destroy a console, but by then, the game was much harder to find. Author never played FF7 so they never saw Barretts original dialogue either. And FF7 was never, at any point in time, difficult to get. No matter what they do to the original game, every scene, mechanic, feature, (altered or unchanged) is going to be met with scrutiny and negativity in some fashion. I cant imagine there being a way for this game to be seen in a positive light. Certainly not the way the original is/was regarded or even how some of the more successful remakes in recent memory have accomplished this.
