Tbqh I wish they had kept the weight gain/loss and working out stuff in the series, I thought it was a really cool idea that allowed a level of customization beyond what most games do even today

Funner than V and IV BY FAR. The newer games got too realistic, to the point where hitting something too hard either makes you fly out the window or the car explodes. San Andreas had the funner gameplay and the better radio stations.

It's weird. GTA3 pretty much lifted the entire Scarface soundtrack as a radio station and then Vice City pretty much lifts everything else Scarface.

I think VC has the best overall soundtrack, but the rap stations in SA are ace as well.

SA also had two bomb ass rock stations that haven't been topped

Great mix of grunge, alternative and new wave. I can't listen to Plush without thinking about that game

Amazing radio. Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, GNR, etc. and then the ability to make a custom station on the PC.

It's optional in the sense that you don't need it to continue to Las Venturas and finish the main storyline.

You miss a shit ton of the San Fierro business opportunities and missions if you skip it though.

GTA 5 is great for the multiplayer, but the single player experience is really lacking when compared to SA. Businesses cost way too much money and don't generate anything in return. Strangers and Freaks was fun but the other side content consists mostly of just going around collecting stuff... And I don't know why the hell they decided to forego adding vehicles in the singleplayer mode, that just makes no sense. They already patched it in for multiplayer.

It had good songs but I didn't find the radio as engaging either, and the world is really bland - one city, one freeway, one small town and one smaller town...

They also did some weird shit in 5 that I didn't like, for instance when your car just flips itself back over when you take a jump wrong.

Yeah I pretty much pretend that feature doesn't exist. It takes a lot of the risk and tension out of high speed chases when you have the ability to just magically flip your car back over

The nostalgia must be strong for you, because GTA3 aged piss poorly.

Cant lie on that one. It's just my opinion on GTA 3 since I haven't touched it since I played the newer ones. I just enjoyed it a lot during it's time lol

I have to disagree with that. The only thing it has is amount of content. The issue is that I feel like its a lot of repetitive content.

On the flip side, no other GTA game lets you rack up massive bounties and then troll people off shore in a minisubmarine >_>

Sure its repetitive now but name a GTA game that is near as deep as GTAO. We can be CEOs of criminal empires in GTAO, with way more to do than any gta. People like to focus on the grind to make money and I get that. BUT, fuck if there isnt a bunch of shit to do. Sadly, a lot of it gets ignored because skydiving(and such)doesnt pay shit. But the content is still there to enjoy.

We have Twisted Metal type matches, Rush style races, Tron bikes and flying Delorians, doomsday shelters......i wish half of GTAO made its way to 5 but we cant ignore what GTAO has done

As someone who can cheat/glitch their way to Shoreside Vale after the first mission and actually fly that damn Dodo in GTA3. Land it in the stadium, in Donald Love's(Trump's?) penthouse or see that one easter egg.. It's hilarious to hear the complaints about the flying in the later games.

Anyway, GTA San Andreas is fantastic with mods but Vice City is still the best :D

This is basically my thoughts. I loved how wacky San Andreas could be. The weird animations when you ran over someone, sometimes theyd fly tens if not hundreds of feet when you hit them for no reason. Planes would randomly crash into the ground for no reason. The infamous suicide ledge in Las Venturas. The pedestrians were memorable. Your health was more than just a couple hits.

Realism just isnt fun to me. Thats why Ill never rate IV, V, and RDR2 above San Andreas when it comes to fun. Sure theyre larger, more polished games, but that doesnt make them more fun. The kind of glitches San Andreas has is just part of the charm since none of them are gamebreaking.

What's the suicide ledge?

the protecting your territory from rival gangs and flying really sucked, IMO, and negatively affect its overall quality.

overall, I prefer GTAV.

I enjoyed taking over territories, it made me feel weirdly accomplished and its always nice to get some free weapons and armor.

There's a ledge in Las Venturas which pedestrians can spawn on. Their normal walking animation will cause them to walk off of it and die.

I think that's what he's talking about anyway.

It was fun, but the downside of the territory system was that if you were flying over Los Santos and you didn't already have 100% of the territories conquered, you would likely get an alert that one of your territories was under attack. So you'd have to choose to either ignore the alert and very likely lose that territory, or try to bail out or land your plane and deal with it (meaning you have to interrupt what you're doing)
